{ Peach, Caramel Frozen Yogurt }

September 24, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: dessert, diy, frozen yogurt, Greek yogurt, healthy dessert, peach dessert, recipe-1, yogurt 12 Comments

Do you have a sweet tooth? I do! And I’m loving this delicious frozen yogurt recipe I came up with inplace of ice cream. It’s sooo yummy!
With a few simple ingredients and a few hours of freezing time, you will have a homemade frozen yogurt. So lets get to it… Start with a 32 ounce container of vanilla Greek yogurt. I only used about 28 ounces or so (I’ll explain later). Pour yogurt into a small mixing bowl and add a half cup of heavy whipping cream and mix well. For taste, I added a little dash of cinnamon and vanilla. Wash and dice a ripe peach and add to mixture. Next add crumbled graham crackers and carmel to your liking. Mix everything well and transfer back to the original container. This is why I only used 28 ounces as mentioned earlier so I would have room for the additional ingredients 🙂 Freeze for a minimum of 4 hours before serving.
I topped mine with a little extra graham crackers and caramel for extra goodness!
Enjoy!!

{ Hometalk- Charming Tray Makeovers }

September 19, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: crafts, diy, Hometalk, projects, tray makeovers

How do you become inspired for your next project? Do you search the house looking to revamp or makeover items? Browse the thrift stores or yard sales for items to bring back to life? I tend to do both, and I do it often! I finish a project only to be consumed with another, and another! One of my favorite places to browse and gather inspiration is Hometalk!

You can search for specific projects or categories create a board, clip it and share! It’s a fabulous way to collect a lot of inspiration for every aspect of the home!

Today I have the pleasure of sharing the topic “Charming Tray Makeovers” with you! If you’ve followed along with me previously, you know that I’ve shared two of my own tray makeovers which you can view here and here!

Whether your style is fun and bright or rustic and refined, you’re sure to find a project to fit your preference! Check them all out here! There are so many creative ways to make your own trays too! I think these would make wonderful housewarming gifts that you could easily personalize with their initial or last name!
With a little bit if time, effort and creativity, you can create a one-of-a-kind piece! Here’s just a few of my favorites that I clipped to my board!

Make a Branch Handled Tray from Funky Junk Interiors
Creating a “Vintage” Wooden Tray from One Tough Mother
DIY French Cottage Tray from Upcycled Treasures

DIY Chalkboard Tray Wall Art from Live Laugh Rowe

And that’s just a peek of the creativity waiting for you to explore over there, so get going!!

{ Country Living Fair Recap }

September 18, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: Country Living, Country Living Fair, country living magazine, diy, Editor and chief, repurposed, retro, vintage

A few weeks ago I received an email from Hometalk inviting me to join them at the Country Living Fair Columbus, I was beyond thrilled! Honestly, I never knew or heard of the fair here so I was really looking forward to going! I invited my best friend to join in for the fun, so her and I made a date of it 😉
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, very Fall-like! The fair took place in Ohio Village and was packed full of hundreds of vendors! There was truly something for everyone there! Vintage, retro, rustic, repurposed, handmade, you name it! I died and went to heaven for the day… There was so much to look at, I didn’t know where to start!
I naturally gravitated towards anything vintage and burlap. But there were plenty of items to peek my interest!

My favorite part of the day, though, was meeting some fabulous bloggers that I’ve been following online for sometime! That was really exciting and rewarding to meet them in person! We all had the pleasure of meeting Rachel DeScepper, the senior web editor of Country Living Magazine and Sarah Gray Miller the magazine’s editor in chief! Not to mention, Cari Cucksey from the show Cash & Cari!

The Country Living Fair travels across the entire U.S. so check out the website to see if and when there’s a fair coming near you!

Autumn on the Porch

September 16, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: Autumn, decor, diy, DIY craft, fall, Fall front porch, front porch 21 Comments

I just love Fall and all the colors that come with it! The burnt oranges, rustic burgundys’, olive greens and metallics adorn my home the entire Fall season! It’s so much fun to create your own Fall decor to enjoy! Today I’m going to share with you how I created a simple Autumn sign!

If you’ve been following along with my blog for awhile, you have probably seen a couple of these type of signs before! I just love making them because they’re so simple, affordable and cute! You will use at total of 12 shims for this project. Begin by laying two horizontally and start gluing the shims one by one until completed. I broke of the ends of a few of mine just to add some character! I painted the shims a beautiful, warm color: Valspar Coral Gable Biltmore Mediterranean Carmel. I gave it a good two coats and let dry completely.

I sketched out by hand my pumpkin and font design. I began to fill in the pumpkin using clear craft glue and sprinkling with gold glitter evenly. While that was drying I filled in my stem with brown craft paint and traced the penciled wording with black craft paint, let dry.
The first time I held up my sign  to view, some of the loose glitter fell onto the, still wet, lettering creating an awesome glittery effect! I couldn’t be more happy with that oopsie 🙂
To complete this project, cut a shim in half and glue together at (about) a 45 degree angle. This creates a sturdy backing! And voila, an adorable custom sign just like that!
Sharing this project on these fabulous blogs!
