Spooky, Chic Halloween Mantel

October 8, 2020 by Fotini Filed Under: 14 meals, 16, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 25 Days of Christmas, 27 West & Co., 4th of July, diy, Halloween

Boo! Tis’ the season to get extra spooky! To embrace your fun & out-of-the norm design styles that you may fall into on a daily basis.

Today I’m sharing my spooky, chic halloween mantel with you all & I must say I had SO much fun with this! It was a special request from my daughter to decorate, more than we normally do, for halloween this year! Without hesitation I said YES!

For the design, I wanted to incorporate black as the bold, stark focal point. I found these paper bats from Target & unfortunately they are no longer available, but you can find similar [ here, here & here]. We just began sticking them on the wall in a curved manner. I love how it turned out!

Next, we started with a clean slate on the mantel. I wanted to add my favorite mercury glass pieces, old books, dried hydrangeas, fake spider webs & my baby boo pumpkins! Oh, and for fun we added mini black witch hats!

Here’s what we came up with…

If you follow along on Instagram, you may have participated in the poll last week, of me asking if I should decorate a halloween tree. I did this a few years back too, you can click here to see that post.

I am so happy with how this little spooky tree turned out! Almost all items used came from the dollar store! We used things like fake spider webs, skull ornaments, glow-in-the-dark witch fingers, sparkly ornaments & a witch hat as the tree topper!

We had so much fun with this design! Soon we will be decorating the porch for halloween, so stay tuned for that!

Witches and Wonders Halloween Blog Hop

October 26, 2016 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, Halloween, home decor 5 Comments

When you think of Halloween you probably don’t think of putting up a tree. And to be honest, it’s not something I’ve ever done… Until now! I was super excited when I received an email to work with Treetopia and be apart of their Witches and Wonders Halloween Blog Hop! What is that you may ask? It’s where myself and four other ladies chose one of the beautiful Treetopia trees and gave them little Halloween twist!

Today I’m sharing with you my Halloween inspired tree!

Hey you, thanks for stopping by today! I know, just last week I shared my Fall 2015 Home Tour, but just like that I’ve taken down my Fall mantel and decorated for Halloween! I normally don’t decorate for Halloween, but this year my little ones have convinced me to, and I’m very pleased with how my non-traditional chic Halloween mantel turned out!

DIY Spooky Bat Banner

October 22, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: banner, crafts, diy, DIY banner, fall, Halloween, Halloween banner, halloween decor, home decor 14 Comments

Do you decorate for Halloween? Typically, I don’t, I just decorate for Fall in general. Last year I shared my first Halloween mantle I created for the kids costume party we were having. This year we planned a Fall fire with friends and I wanted to make a cute, quick little banner to display outside! This banner took me under 15 minutes, no joke!
Using my silhouette machine, I downloaded a set of bats for $0.99! I arranged the set of (4) bats on the page. I used 5 pieces of black construction paper and got to work! One piece of construction paper fit the 4 bats perfectly. Once they were all cut out, I grabbed my heated glue gun and began to attach them to my fishing line in different directions creating a pattern. I did this for the full length until my bats were gone. My particular banner is rather long, but that’s the way I wanted it! I took it outside and taped it into place on our barn. It was perfectly windy, so it made the bats appear to be flying! The kids loved it! This is a cute staple piece that we will add to our Halloween decor for years to come and it was so simple to make!
Sharing this project on these lovely blogs!

{ Fab Pins of the Week }

October 18, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, fab pins of the week, Halloween, Halloween recipes, Pinterest, snacks, treats Leave a Comment

Hi there and welcome πŸ™‚
It’s a pleasure to have you here, starting your weekend out with me!
I’m still in full swing of prepping for the kids Halloween costume party, so this week’s pins are, again, Halloween inspired!
Do you decorate/celebrate Halloween?
Do you allow your kids to go trick or treating?
We do not celebrate Halloween in our home, but we do allow our children to trick or treat. This year, however, I’m excited to host a party for the kids to have fun without all the freaky, gooey gore that typically comes with Halloween! Be sure to check back for the party reveal next week!
So let’s get to it…

1. Aren’t these Monster Apple Bites from We Do Fun Here absolutely adorable? I’m totally making these for our Halloween party, the kids will love them! Not to mention, they’re made with healthy ingredients! Head over and check out the full recipe πŸ™‚
2. Halloween party perfection, wow! I love every detail is beautifully placed! Of course I love the burlap tablecloth!
3. These adorable treat bags are the perfect touch for your little ones to keep their treats in! And they are just so stinkin’ cute! I love using paper bags from the dollar store, the possibilities are truly endless and you can’t get anything more budget friendly!
4. Holy moly these are cute! I’m not the best at baking, so more than likely mine would not turn out looking like this, but I might just have to give it a try! I love the bright green color from the non-traditional black and orange Halloween decor!

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out some of my inspiration this week!
This week’s pins were Halloween related! We will be hosting a Kids Costume Party here in the next couple weeks, so I’m in full swing of preparing for it, fun!!

1. Isn’t this mummy wrapped pumpkin darling? This is the perfect, safe and non-messy craft for kids to create adorable, personalized pumpkins! Create the perfect wrap using gauze and add googly eyes that you can purchase from the dollar store!
2. Create gorgeous, glowing pumpkins in a few easy steps! Instead  of the traditional carving technique, drill holes in a design and place mini white string lights on the inside! These are sure to brighten up your porch perfectly for Fall, and you can enjoy them long after Halloween is over!
3. Puppy chow may just be one of my favorite guilty pleasures! I have been coming across sooo many new recipes this season! This particular recipe yields the perfect Halloween mixture! If you’re looking for a satisfying snack for your Halloween party, look no longer, this is it! Your guests will be begging for more πŸ˜‰
4. This spook-tacular Halloween mantle is charmingly frightful! I love the mix of natural elements and bold accents! The black displays really make this mantle pop, don’t you think?!

{ 6 Not- So Scary Halloween Movies for Kids }

October 23, 2012 by Fotini Filed Under: Halloween, Halloween movies for kids, Harry Potter, Hocus Pocus, kids movies, Matilda, Scooby Doo 19 Comments

One of my favorite things about Holiday time is watching fun movies with my little ones. Christian (my 6 year old) is all about movies right now! I really don’t like scary, violent movies, and I refuse to let me children watch them, so I came up with six movies that are fun and family friendly πŸ™‚ ** Note: I won’t be letting little Isabella watch any of these except Charlie Brown πŸ˜‰

Do you have a favorite Halloween movie that isn’t on this list? I’d love to know!

Hocus Pocus
The Addams Family
It’s a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Scooby-Doo
Matilda
Harry Potter
