Pretty in pink Christmas

December 14, 2020 by Fotini Filed Under: 14 meals, 16, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 25 Days of Christmas, 27 West & Co., 4th of July, Christmas tree, diy

Hey friend! I have been sharing little peeks of my office pretty in pink Christmas tree for a couple weeks now. Today I’m sharing all the details!

It is one of my favorites! It is simple, feminine, pink, sparkly & allll the feels. The tree is a 6.5 foot black & gold ombre tree. It has been such a fun tree to decorate because it is so multi-functional.

I started off with some easy DIY ornaments I made years ago using small inexpensive store frames & adding scripture print in them. Check out the tutorial HERE. Next, I began adding in glittery ornaments & mercury glass balls in silver & white. I absolutely love working with pinks, champagnes & all the neutrals! It truly makes for a stunning combination!

Time for fillers! I used glittery stems, glittered eucalyptus, white eucalyptus, glittery ferns & such. Fillers bring your tree to life & give it so much character! I love using big, whimsy stems that droop & hang. My favorite touch to this pretty in pink Christmas tree design, is the velvet poinsettias I snagged from Hobby Lobby for half off!

It is truly the perfect addition to my office! I love looking at it & hope to keep it up for awhile! Even after the new year!

Thank you so much for stopping by & I hope to see you back here again soon!

Spooky, Chic Halloween Mantel

October 8, 2020 by Fotini Filed Under: 14 meals, 16, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 25 Days of Christmas, 27 West & Co., 4th of July, diy, Halloween

Boo! Tis’ the season to get extra spooky! To embrace your fun & out-of-the norm design styles that you may fall into on a daily basis.

Today I’m sharing my spooky, chic halloween mantel with you all & I must say I had SO much fun with this! It was a special request from my daughter to decorate, more than we normally do, for halloween this year! Without hesitation I said YES!

For the design, I wanted to incorporate black as the bold, stark focal point. I found these paper bats from Target & unfortunately they are no longer available, but you can find similar [ here, here & here]. We just began sticking them on the wall in a curved manner. I love how it turned out!

Next, we started with a clean slate on the mantel. I wanted to add my favorite mercury glass pieces, old books, dried hydrangeas, fake spider webs & my baby boo pumpkins! Oh, and for fun we added mini black witch hats!

Here’s what we came up with…

If you follow along on Instagram, you may have participated in the poll last week, of me asking if I should decorate a halloween tree. I did this a few years back too, you can click here to see that post.

I am so happy with how this little spooky tree turned out! Almost all items used came from the dollar store! We used things like fake spider webs, skull ornaments, glow-in-the-dark witch fingers, sparkly ornaments & a witch hat as the tree topper!

We had so much fun with this design! Soon we will be decorating the porch for halloween, so stay tuned for that!

Master bedroom Refresh

July 28, 2020 by Fotini Filed Under: 14 meals, 16, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 25 Days of Christmas, 27 West & Co., 4th of July, home decor

Inspiration comes in many different ways, shapes & sizes. I find myself getting inspired by specific objects alone! My girlfriends & I were actually just talking about that this past weekend. Are you one that tends to get inspired by one specific thing, such as a pillow, piece of furniture, rug, etc. Or does finding inspiration come in other ways for you?

Lately, I have been wanting to give my master bedroom a little refresh! I don’t have a big budget to spend on this project, so I wanted to keep it simple & affordable, using most of my existing large items. It’s amazing how much you can change up the look of a room by adding new bedding, rugs & accessories!

I have created this little mood board, because lets be honest, I’m LOVING those right now! It’s the best way for me to take my vision & bring it to life! Best part about it, is these items are AFFORDABLE!

As part of my master bedroom refresh, I also plan to paint. I haven’t completely came to a decision on paint colors yet, so your input is well appreciated!

Gallery wall update

July 23, 2020 by Fotini Filed Under: 14 meals, 16, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 25 Days of Christmas, 27 West & Co., 4th of July, home decor

I have had my current gallery wall since we moved in our house over 8 years ago! I love it because it displays some of my very favorite pictures of the kids through the years, but I think it’s time for an update!

My living room is a very open and airy space that opens up to my formal dining room and kitchen. The theme throughout each is, you guessed it, neutral tones! With that being said, I want to continue that neutral theme by adding white frames.

I’ve created this super simple mood board as my inspiration for the project! If you follow me on Instagram you may have participated in the poll asking for your all’s input on the “gallery wall” matter! I initially was torn between either doing the white frames or wrapped canvas. The results were 59% of you voted white frames and 41% voted wrapped canvas.

I feel the white frames will likely be the look I’m going for. I have looked up frame after frame and finally came to a conclusion on what I’ll be using! I can’t wait to share that with you! I know, I know… I’m leaving you hanging for now! But I will be sharing soon! Step 1 of the gallery wall update is getting new pictures taken of the kiddos. I think I’m going to opt for either black and white, or a muted filter for the pictures. Step 2 is painting my living room!

Hello stranger… It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly 4 months since I’ve posted around here! It’s a sad reality, really. I think about blogging all the time. My current mindset just has a hard time sitting down, editing and writing. However, today I had the urge, so I went with it… and I’m glad I did!

Antique Dresser Makeover

June 6, 2018 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, home decor

Well, hello there stranger! It has been quite awhile since I’ve been around this neck of the woods! I apologize for being so distant lately. I’m excited to get back into it & share a recent project with you. This is an antique dresser makeover!

I snagged this beat-up antique dresser, with great bones, from a Facebook Marketplace post. I think I paid about $45 for it! I love giving old antiques new life! Some of the things I look for when scouting furniture is, caster wheels, carving details, ornate features & original hardware, just to name a few!

Antique Dresser Makeover

I lucked out with this one, it has beautiful carving details, pretty legs & caster wheels! It’s no surprise that this piece was going to get painted. I opted for my favorite Miss Mustard Seed in farmhouse white. I was pretty disappointed to find out that I didn’t have enough milk paint to paint the entire piece… So, I decided to mix in equal parts of bergere. I had absolutely no clue how it was going to turn out, but it was worth a shot.

It produced the prettiest shade of blue! To say I was happy with how it turned out, was an understatement! The first coat looked very light, almost pure farmhouse white. However, the second coat produced more of the blue shade. As it dried, the color came to life! I love using milk paint, because it spastically lifts & gives the piece that aged feel. After a little light distressing, I sealed the entire piece with Miss Mustard Seed tough coat.

I was able to incorporate the original dresser hardware into this piece! I think they fit it perfectly. I did, though, get new mercury glass knobs for the top drawer to dress it up a little! I was tickled to death with how pretty this piece turned out! When the time came, we added it into our storefront & I couldn’t wait to decorate it right away. It was no surprise to me, when this piece sold at our Grand Opening event that first weekend! Our customer said she was going to use it as a tv stand. I sure hope she enjoys it as much as I did!

Antique wardrobe makeover!

July 17, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: decor

Makeovers seem to be our thing these days, and I have to say… I’m not mad about it! I absolutely adore taking a beat up, neglected antiques and bringing them back to life! We scored this sad looking wardrobe from a local yard sale. The original idea for the piece was to paint it white, of course! Little did we know, this wood was mahogany and it bleeds through pink. This was our first encounter with mahogany. We used primer and added multiple coats, but still got the bleeding through.

Bergère antique table

June 26, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: diy

It’s a beautiful thing, really, when you have family scouting garage sales with you in mind! Tell me that doesn’t speak volumes about the wonderful support I have from my family!

It was a Saturday afternoon and I received a text from my Aunt with this adorable antique table she scored for only $12! A couple days after she dropped it off, I started working on it! It was already painted white and we all know WHITE is my color, but the paint job was a little rough… Oh, and I had bought some new colors of Miss Mustard Seed milk paint, so that may have swayed my decision too 😉  [Read more…]

Old antique table update

June 19, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: diy

I’m finally getting around to writing the post for this sweet little, abused antique table I first shared on Instagram a couple of months ago! Why has it taken me so long to share you ask? Insert excuses… Lately, balancing everything I have going on daily is challenging! Some of you may not know my situation. I was a stay-at-home mom ever since my children were born. They are 11 and 6. In late December 2015, my (then) husband told me he wanted a divorce. As you can imagine, my world began to crumble! How was I going to survive and support the kids? Were we going to have to move? How am I going to make it on my own?

Those were just a few questions that ran through my mind. Thankfully, my dad owns his own business less than 2 miles from where we live. Now, I work for him part-time, sell our items at local shops, participate in barn shows and blog for my additional income. I’m thankful for it all, really! I am able to spend a lot of time raising my children, which is the best gift in the world! I am also able to design and create which is my immense passion! The best part, is this little blog is where I get to share those passions with you all! [Read more…]
