New subway tile backsplash

April 24, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: diy 234 Comments

Guys, I cannot believe I’m actually writing this post!! I cannot tell you how stinkin’ excited I was to get rid of the ugly, old backsplash that was in my kitchen. I am so excited to say: it’s finally gone! Bye-bye ugly, dated bathroom tile; and hello new subway tile backsplash! Today I’m sharing the process of us ripping out the old tile and installing the new!

The caulking behind our sink had been peeled away for a few months, so I was afraid we would have some water damage and possibly mildew. Kenny ripped the tiled off and found black mold, eek! It wasn’t nearly as bad as it could of been, but it did extend from behind our sink about 2.5 feet. Once the tile was completely removed, he cut out the molded drywall. We were lucky it didn’t extend down behind the sink and that there was plastic covering the studs. That saved us big time!!

Terra Cotta Pot Wreath

April 10, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: diy 1 Comment

Spring rolls around and I’m changing the wreath on my front door to pretty much go with my moods… Ok, you’re right, not that much 😉 But I am changing them a good bit! For well over a year now, I’ve had a Southern Living magazine clipping hanging on my fridge. Yes, I’m one of those that still clip my favorite ideas and inspiration out of a magazine and hold onto it until I’m ready to conquer the project. I’ve been doing that way before the days of Pinterest!

That little magazine clipping was of a garden pot wreath. I just loved how it looked, so I wanted to recreate it. The day has finally come, after all this time! I’m finally sharing with you my terra cotta pot wreath!  [Read more…]

Prepping kitchen for paint!

March 27, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: kitchen Leave a Comment

This was a tedious, but oh so necessary job: prepping the kitchen for paint! Do yourself the favor and tape everything off before you begin painting! It will eliminate -oopsies and extra cleanup after. We were not painting the inside of the cabinets, so we simply removed the doors and taped off the inside edges. Once the doors are removed, make sure to remove all hardware, knobs and bumpers. Degrease cabinets using a cleaner such as, goof off. Cleaning the grease off is important in the kitchen, because those grease spots can seep through paint. This is also a good time to fill any nicks or gashes with wood filler. Sand before painting.

Kitchen before + inspiration

March 13, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: kitchen Leave a Comment

Boy, I feel like this post has been a long time coming! As a matter of fact, it has! I have wanted a white kitchen for as long as we’ve lived in this house, nearly 5 years! It wasn’t exactly something I was willing to take on by myself, so I was thrilled when I started dating my sweetie, and it was something he was willing to take on and complete with me! Why did I want a white kitchen so bad? Because it was the only part of the house that just didn’t fit. My entire house has a very neutral, white- centered design and the kitchen cabinets were maple. Yes, maple cabinets, hideous white bathroom backsplash and an even more hideous green countertop. It could be worse, but this was pretty bad!

Our kitchen is the center of our home and where we spend a good bit of our time. We are constantly hosting family gatherings, dinners and birthdays throughout the year, so the kitchen is the main hangout spot. I was dying for it to blend in with the rest of the house! And after countless months, my dreams began to come true! We started our #farmhousechicblogreno! Bye-bye maple cabinets and hello white beauty!

If you follow along with me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen the inspiration board pic I created and shared not too long ago. If not, here’s what I’ve based my kitchen design off of.

Here’s a run through of what we will be doing: painting the cabinets white, adding crown molding, building a custom range hood, white subway tile backsplash, new countertops, shiplap island and eat-in dining wall, painting walls and trim and updated lighting.

I will be sharing more details as we complete them! I hope that you will follow along with me for my exciting kitchen renovation!

I absolutely cannot believe I’m rounding up my popular posts of 2016! This year has seemed to fly by, do you agree? I was very scared for what 2016 had in store for me. As many of you may know, I shared at the end of last year (2015) that my husband and I separated. It came as a shock to me and I wasn’t prepared for what to expect. As time went on, things began to fall into place. The kids and I began to create our own happy life and I began to learn to rely on myself more than anyone else. I would be lying if I said it was all rainbows and flowers. There were a lot of ups and downs, but the good outweighed the bad. My faith in the Lord is what has brought me to where I am today! I know I wouldn’t be where I am without it! I’m eager to put 2016 behind me and see what amazing things are in store for 2017!!

So, let’s get to it… Here’s my most popular posts of 2016!

God is within her!

The last couple of weeks have been quiet around here and I’m sorry for that! I have had somewhat of a difficult time making blogging a priority right now with everything going on. It crosses my mind almost daily, however, I’m just not 100% there to hop right back into full blown projects yet. I hope that you understand and will continue to stick around, because let’s be real… I LOVE having you here!

As you may know, I have a soft spot for farmhouse signs! Today I am sharing one I made for my daughters room, and it couldn’t be any more fitting for what’s going on right now!

Fun Homework Station

January 4, 2016 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, school supplies 1 Comment

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media GroupÂź and Newell Rubbermaid , but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #stockup4schools http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

It’s hard to believe it has come and gone and it’s time for the kids to go back to school after Christmas break! It seems, after a little time off, the kids aren’t too thrilled to head back. Of course, going back to school means getting back into the routine of doing homework. My son is in the fourth grade and it can be a challenge for him to find a supplied, quite space for him to concentrate. That gave me the idea to create a fun homework station that he could call his own!
