Prepping kitchen for paint!

March 27, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: kitchen Leave a Comment

This was a tedious, but oh so necessary job: prepping the kitchen for paint! Do yourself the favor and tape everything off before you begin painting! It will eliminate -oopsies and extra cleanup after. We were not painting the inside of the cabinets, so we simply removed the doors and taped off the inside edges. Once the doors are removed, make sure to remove all hardware, knobs and bumpers. Degrease cabinets using a cleaner such as, goof off. Cleaning the grease off is important in the kitchen, because those grease spots can seep through paint. This is also a good time to fill any nicks or gashes with wood filler. Sand before painting.

10 Farmhouse Kitchen Lantern Options

March 20, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: kitchen Leave a Comment

I’m going to have a very small budget for updating our kitchen lighting. The reason being, is we plan to move in the next 2 years (hopefully to a farmhouse!), and I don’t want to deplete my budget on lighting. I want to keep it simple but in sync with the farmhouse style! Today I’m sharing with you 10 farmhouse kitchen lantern options that I’m picturing for my kitchen renovation! #farmhousechicblogreno.

//  // // .//

// 7. // 8. // 9. //

The above options are affordable and right up the alley of what I have in mind! I love the look of the oil rubbed bronze or black lantern lighting hanging above the kitchen island. I currently have 3 mercury glass pendant lights, but they do not produce enough light. The plan is to find two smaller, 10 inch size, lanterns to hang in its place.

I’m always on the search for items that fit my style and budget! If you’re in search for something similar, I hope that this will take some of the hard work out for you! It can be a real pain sometimes, searching through all the options out there!

What do you think about the lantern pendant idea for above my island? I’m always looking for opinions, so feel free to share yours!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you next time.

Kitchen before + inspiration

Boy, I feel like this post has been a long time coming! As a matter of fact, it has! I have wanted a white kitchen for as long as we’ve lived in this house, nearly 5 years! It wasn’t exactly something I was willing to take on by myself, so I was thrilled when I started dating my sweetie, and it was something he was willing to take on and complete with me! Why did I want a white kitchen so bad? Because it was the only part of the house that just didn’t fit. My entire house has a very neutral, white- centered design and the kitchen cabinets were maple. Yes, maple cabinets, hideous white bathroom backsplash and an even more hideous green countertop. It could be worse, but this was pretty bad!

Our kitchen is the center of our home and where we spend a good bit of our time. We are constantly hosting family gatherings, dinners and birthdays throughout the year, so the kitchen is the main hangout spot. I was dying for it to blend in with the rest of the house! And after countless months, my dreams began to come true! We started our #farmhousechicblogreno! Bye-bye maple cabinets and hello white beauty!

If you follow along with me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen the inspiration board pic I created and shared not too long ago. If not, here’s what I’ve based my kitchen design off of.

Here’s a run through of what we will be doing: painting the cabinets white, adding crown molding, building a custom range hood, white subway tile backsplash, new countertops, shiplap island and eat-in dining wall, painting walls and trim and updated lighting.

I will be sharing more details as we complete them! I hope that you will follow along with me for my exciting kitchen renovation!

Farmhouse Kitchen Inspiration Board

December 17, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: 2015, kitchen Leave a Comment

Hey you! If you’ve been hanging out with me awhile, you will know that I’ve been dying to paint our kitchen white and do a budget-friendly remodel! Last Christmas I busted out signing to my husband one morning, “I’m dreaming of a white kitchen!”… he lost it! Seriously though! It’s the only part of our house that doesn’t “fit”! And it’s one we spend the most time in! The business we own is seasonal, so we tend to have down time in the Winter, and I’m hoping my husband will agree to get started soon! Today I’m sharing my farmhouse kitchen inspiration board with you all! Even more exciting, I’m sharing some Parrot Uncle hanging lights, if you’re doing your own remodel or just want to update your lighting!

3. Paint your garage door a fun color to make it stand out! I love this idea because we have an eat in kitchen and I will be doing this! Nobody likes that dirty old white door anyways 😉 What do you guys think? Is this a simple, yet great idea or what!
4. This fresh flower arrangement is absolutely stunning!! Hydrangeas,  ranunculus and garden roses make a smashing presentation!

Kitchen Remodel Must- Haves!

March 29, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: kitchen, kitchen remodel, kitchen sink, Moen, sponsored post 1 Comment

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Moen, Incorporated for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

When remodeling your kitchen, what are some of your must-haves? For me it’s hardware I love and a beautiful faucet! My style tends to be leaning more towards rustic chic. I love the aged, yet feminie feel, donning new and vintage pieces! When we bought our house we did simple modifications to get it move in ready, but I have big plans for our kitchen! Here’s what I have in mind: painting the cabinets white, removing existing back splash and adding white subway tile, new counter tops (thinking butcher-block!), and maybe even a farmhouse sink! What better to adorn a gorgeous farmhouse sink, than the perfect faucet?! What is the perfect faucet and why? How about the Kiran Spot Resist one-handle pulldown kitchen faucet. Yes, absolutely spot resistant, oh my I think I’m sold!

The new Moen Kiran spot resist kitchen faucet has a stylish one-handle high arc, pulldown design. It’s finish resists fingerprints and water spots! The Moen Kiran pulldown spout has 2 spray functions, aerated stream or the powerful cleaning rinse, with pause feature. Its Relex system offers smooth operation, easy movement and secure docking.

Hardware and appliances can make or break a kitchen for me! I love the sleek, clean look of stainless steel appliances. It would be the perfect touch to my remodeled kitchen! You can find this beauty at your local Lowes or online, here.
