March 28, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: bright colors, fab pins of the week, fashion, flowers, home decor, Pinterest, Spring 1 Comment

Woot woot, it’s Friday!! Welcome, I’m so happy to have you here today! Do you have any big plans for the weekend? My son has been on Spring Break this week, so we’re just going to wrap up the last of his break spending time together as a family! Today I’m taking the kids to a book store.. They absolutely love to read, I love that!!
This week I’ve been inspired by beautiful brights! Just adding pops of color into your neutral decor, decorating your office, bedroom on incorporating it into your wardrobe is so much fun! I hope you enjoy these as much as I did!

Bringing Spring to the Door!

March 3, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, DIY wreath, flowers, Spring, Spring wreath 16 Comments

The minute we had warmer temps I had the urge to bust out all the pretty stuff for Spring! I should of known that was short lived, we’ve been getting more snow all weekend! Anyways, I wanted to bring Spring to my front door, even if the weather outside wasn’t so inviting yet!
I headed to Jo Ann’s where I was really pleased to find an adorable flat-backed, faux watering can just perfect for the front door! I always have a nice time browsing their selection of flowers because there’s truly such a variety, I love it! This time I opted for pretty white tulips and a bright pink flowery, long- stemmed bloom. Once I was home, I took a piece of black felt that I already had, traced the shape of the watering can with white colored pencil and cut it out. Next, using a hot glue gun, glue it to the back of the watering can leaving the very top unglued for now. This will act as a protector from scratching your door in the event of it moving! If necessary, use a wire cutter to trim the end of the flowers to fit the length desired. Play around with their placement until you’re happy with how it looks! I took the adorable burlap and polka dot ribbon, cut it to length and super glued it to the back of the can, and then glued the felt that you had previously left unglued at the top, and glued it into place. And voila, hang on your door and relish all the cuteness, even if the weather isn’t permitting just yet 😉

Happy Friday!!! I am so thrilled the weekend is here! The last couple of days have really been lovely since the snow has been melting and the temps have been warmer! I am really looking forward to the weekend! With the temps in the mid 50’s, I am just aching for Spring!!

1. This kitchen is just gorgeous! So beautiful and bright â™¥  ♥ Honestly, one of the first things that stuck out to me about this picture was the mix of gold and stainless. I don’t think it looks bad done here at all! I love the chandelier and the gorgeous marble countertops and backsplash!
2. Such a stunning mix of fresh flowers! The perfect tablescape for any Spring or Summer gathering! I love the pops of coral mixed with the natural greens. This would pair perfectly with the adorable new floral decor right now at Target. I shared it earlier on my Facebook page! Are you following along with me on there yet? I would love to have you!
3. I love the idea of using cloches to cover and showcase mini cakes on a dessert table! What a neat concept for either a Wedding or birthday! I, too, love the simplicity of these cakes with bright bloom making them ultra appealing. I just might use this concept for my daughters upcoming birthday!
4. This bedroom is just lovely! It’s feminine yet subtle. The soft hues of pink are what caught my eye right away. I just have the strong desire to decorate one of my rooms with pink. I wish it could be my bedroom, but I’m opting for my office!  The tall ceilings in this space are just amazing! So much natural light to enhance those natural color elements!

DIY Floral Crown

February 17, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, DIY floral crown, floral crown, flowers, photo shoot 29 Comments

When it comes to being the “belle of the ball”, there’s nothing better than an incredibly feminine floral crown! I wanted to create one for my little princess to wear for a photo shoot last Fall and I thought I would share the simple tutorial with you all so you can give it a try too!!
I bought a cheap greenery vine from the dollar store. The base of it was a brown wired piece that I used for the base of the crown. I measured it around my daughter’s head, cut, wrapped the ends and used the hot glue gun to glue into place. For the flowers, you can use this technique with any flowers, or a mixture! I opted for baby’s breath! Cut short lengths of the flowers and glue them into place starting in the middle of the crown. Work your way around the sides, alternating the direction in which you lay the flowers. This will prevent it looking bare in some spots. Try to use blooms that are similar in size for proportion. Continue this technique until you’re happy with the result!
Our photo shoot was the following day so to store the crown, dampen a paper towel and lightly wrap it around the flowers and store in a large ziploc bag and store in the refrigerator.
These are perfect for photo shoots, Weddings, birthday parties and more! I can’t wait to make another one for my little princesses birthday!!

{ Fab Pins of the Week }

May 31, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: fab pins of the week, flowers, outdoor decor, outdoor space, Pinterest, succulents, tulips Leave a Comment

Well hello there 🙂
I hope you all have had a great week!
We are celebrating Summer break by kicking it off with a bonfire tomorrow night with friends!
So, let’s get to what’s been inspiring me this week!

1. Tulips are among one of my favorite flowers; such a beautiful bloom! These abundant blooms look dashing in these metal planters. I love using bold pieces to plant in! I’ve seen a similar look using tin trash cans and they look great!
2. I love this outdoor vignette with neutral tones and natural elements. Don’t get me wrong, I love decorating with colors, but when it comes down to it, I’m a neutral girl all day! I’ve pretty much decided that as we’re preparing to re-do our backyard/deck area that I want to stick with neutrals and add flowers for pops of color! I love, love, love the glass hurricanes with candles! Candles are a must- have for my outdoor space!
3. I really love this outdoor setup! Absolute perfect space for entertaining! The kids and I bought my husband a new stainless grill for an early Father’s Day present and this gives us great inspiration for incorporating into our outdoor space. I love the built in cooler, how neat is that?!
4. My love for succulents continues! These flowers are so beautiful and such low maintenance! Planting them into a beautiful urn will just make them that much better to enjoy 😉 I just bought some more yesterday and can’t wait to plant them!

Teacup Blooms

May 13, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, flowers, gifts, Mothers Day gifts, Pinterest, simple gifts, Spring, teacup gifts, teacups 3 Comments

I know for me, one of my favorite gifts is one I can continuously enjoy. This year for Mothers Day the kids made and decorated bird houses for our Nana and my mother in law, but I wanted to give a little something special! We were going to be hosting a bbq on Mothers Day and I wanted to have something to give each Mom, so I headed to the local thrift store in search for teacups! I scored 7 di-cut glass cups for $1.49, score!!! Next, I headed for the local garden center in search for flowers! I opted for an eye-catching, small bloom, cockscomb. They were bright, beautiful and dainty enough to fit perfectly into the cup!

To start, add a small amount of soil to the bottom of the cup, remove the flower and roots from container, hold into place and fill with soil. I pressed my down to eliminate loose soil and to keep the plant in place. Water each day, making sure the soil is moist. I sat mine on the kitchen window sill where it will get plenty of sun and I can enjoy it 🙂

For the gifts, I used a small tag and wrote “true love blossoms…”; I hope they enjoy watching this flower bloom all summer long!

{ Spring Porch Inspiration }

February 11, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: flowers, porch decor, Spring, Spring 2013, spring porch inspiration 10 Comments

I am so ready for Spring, how about you? Since we got the house in late Spring, I didn’t get the chance to plant in my flower beds last year, so I’m dying to add some color to my yard this year! Not only do I want my yard to be in tip-top shape, I want to create an inviting porch for my guests to enjoy when they arrive! Here’s what I’ve came up with for a little inspiration…

Some of the flowers I plan on planting this year will be dahlias, hydrangeas, and ranunculus. What are your favorite flowers?
