Makeovers seem to be our thing these days, and I have to say… I’m not mad about it! I absolutely adore taking a beat up, neglected antiques and bringing them back to life! We scored this sad looking wardrobe from a local yard sale. The original idea for the piece was to paint it white, of course! Little did we know, this wood was mahogany and it bleeds through pink. This was our first encounter with mahogany. We used primer and added multiple coats, but still got the bleeding through.
Rewind to weeks prior, on a trip to Lowe’s we scored some adorable robin egg blue paint on sale for $5! We snagged both quarts. Now, back to the wardrobe. We decided to use the blue paint, in hopes we wouldn’t have any bleeding…. and, it worked!! I was just thrilled with how darling it looked painted that sweet robin egg blue!
Next, we really wanted to transform this piece by adding chicken wire to the doors. We purchased a small roll of chicken wire from the hardware store. We simply measured the doors, cut the wire to size and stapled it on. I also purchased two mercury glass knobs for the doors. It tied in the color with the chicken wire! Oh my goodness! I adored how it looked! Perfectly farmhouse chic!
What a huge transformation this little piece underwent by just giving it a little love!
We took this piece with us to our latest show and it was a huge hit! It ended up selling the first day!
So, what do you think about the transformation?
Thanks a bunch for stopping by!
See you next time 🙂
