{ First Day of School Printable }

August 12, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: back to school, first day of school, free printable, free printables, grade school, school, school printable, special occasion 28 Comments

Yes, I love to take the cheesy pictures of my kids holding signs for a special occasion!
I think it’s adorable and I know I will look back and smile when I’m older πŸ™‚
If you’re one of those Mom’s too, I’ve created a cute little printable for the first day of school!
Print it out, frame it and have your little ones pose with excitement! One the first day of school, I make a special breakfast, whatever my little guy requests! I’m going to miss my little man so much when he goes back to school next week, but he’s excited to go! I hope all your little ones have a wonderful school year!

Instead of downloading the image, simply right click on the image and save it to your computer and print it out that way. I find that’s the easiest way and I never have a problem with clarity. However, if you do have a problem with the printable being blurry at all, please let me know!

{ Fab Pins of the Week }

August 9, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: Black, bold, dutch door, entryway, fab pins of the week, fireplace, formal dining room, home decor, Pinterest, reading nook 1 Comment

Hey you! I bet you’re just as glad it’s Friday as I am πŸ˜‰
Thanks for stopping by and starting your weekend out with me!
This week I’ve been loving the bold look of black details around the house!
Lately, I’ve been more daring than usual and incorporating black into my decor.
Join me as I share a few of my favorites this week!

1. I’m crazy about this dutch door in this rear entryway. Not to mention the gorgeous exposed brick flooring and fabulous stairs! The door really makes this space for me though! The perfect addition for that cottage look, yet it screams bold with black color!
2. I love the idea of turning a small or unused coat closet into a quaint reading nook! It doesn’t need to be big but it makes a big impact! My kids adore to read so this would be something we would use a lot! I’m still working on my husband to grow keen to the idea, let’s hope he grows fond soon (wink!)
3. This is a beautiful fireplace makeover from The Lettered Cottage! Such a drastic before and after for only $82!! Our fireplace is in need of a little makeover and this project gives me great inspiration and I’m sure it will YOU too!
4. If your home doesn’t don a space for a formal dining room, perhaps you have a wide hallway? Think outside the box a tad and turn that wide hallway into a cozy formal dining room using a narrow table. This is a really unique idea! Add pendant lighting or a large chandelier to tie the space together!

Chevron & Burlap

August 5, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: burlap garden flag, burlap wreath, chevron, chevron burlap ribbon, chevron ribbon, craft, diy, DIY craft, diy project, garden flag 26 Comments

I might be obsessed with updating my wreaths and flags, so what?! While at Hobby Lobby I purchased an adorable 9 foot roll of faded black chevron burlap, which just happened to be 50% off!!

Once I was home, before cutting the burlap I gathered a long length and created a bow with long ends. I fish-tailed the ends to hang loose on the wreath and attached it with a small piece floral wire.

I used the same technique as my last garden flag, you can view that here! This time I used regular burlap, and stenciled on the words “Welcome To Our Home” in black craft paint. While that was drying I created a nice full bow and, again, fishtailed the ends. I secured it to the burlap using a generous amount of hot glue from my glue gun. I also sewed the tops of the bow into place since this is a heavy material, I didn’t want it to sag forward.

I love the combination the faded black chevron along with the burlap! It dresses up the front walkway and door perfectly πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to make a flag for Fall!!

It’s F-R-I-D-A-Y, yeahh!
Thanks for starting your weekend here with me πŸ™‚
This weeks inspiration is from a little metallic love!
Do you mix silver and gold when decorating? Maybe this will inspire you to πŸ˜‰

1. I tend to mix small bits of gold into my, normally all silver decor! It gives it a little pop with little effort! I love this gorgeous living room design mixed with the perfect display of silvers and golds. Some people are afraid that the color will clash, but if you do it subtly it can really wow! This room dons silver and mirrored accents, paired beautifully with gold side tables and frames!
2. I love this idea of dressing up walls for like your formal dining room! Take a 1×6 wood plank and wrap it in metallic grasscloth. It looks expensive, eye-catching and gorgeous! This would also be beautiful in a glamorous-style office!
3. Add metallics with small pieces of decor, like pillows! I love this sequin, glamorous pillow! Not to mention that gorgeous Louis chair and fur throw! I love love love how timeless this looks!
4. Gold chevron wallpaper, enough said!! Adding this to your space will dress it up easily and pair it with silver and coral decor for the perfect pop! This specific wallpaper is no longer available from Urban Outfitters but you can find comparable here and here.

{ Our Food Passport }

July 29, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: date nights, family, family fun, family night ideas, family time, food passport, Google, local restaurants, notebook, restaurants, Target 21 Comments

A few weeks ago I pinned the cutest idea of making a food passport for date nights. Well, unfortunately we don’t get many of those at our house, ever, so I decided to make one family style!

I think this is an absolutely adorable idea instead of arguing where to eat, eliminating the ” I don’t cares”, “I don’t knows” and whatever else may come along the way! Just flip to a page and head to the spot listed!

I bought an adorable little notebook at Target and headed home to Google some restaurants we’ve been wanting to try! I wrote down the restaurant name, address, phone number, hours of operation, area of town and expected price ( $-$$, etc. ). We don’t eat out often, so I also included some of our favorite restaurants that the kids would already love! I created a small pouch in the back for stickers to “mark” the restaurant once we’ve eaten there.

This is such a simple project, but such a fun concept! With the age that our little Isabella is right now (terrible two’s) eating out can be a daunting experience, but I think this will create excitement and make it more enjoyable for everyone! Not to mention, trying some new places, meeting some new faces and exploring our beautiful city!
