Chevron & Burlap

August 5, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: burlap garden flag, burlap wreath, chevron, chevron burlap ribbon, chevron ribbon, craft, diy, DIY craft, diy project, garden flag 26 Comments

I might be obsessed with updating my wreaths and flags, so what?! While at Hobby Lobby I purchased an adorable 9 foot roll of faded black chevron burlap, which just happened to be 50% off!!

Once I was home, before cutting the burlap I gathered a long length and created a bow with long ends. I fish-tailed the ends to hang loose on the wreath and attached it with a small piece floral wire.

I used the same technique as my last garden flag, you can view that here! This time I used regular burlap, and stenciled on the words “Welcome To Our Home” in black craft paint. While that was drying I created a nice full bow and, again, fishtailed the ends. I secured it to the burlap using a generous amount of hot glue from my glue gun. I also sewed the tops of the bow into place since this is a heavy material, I didn’t want it to sag forward.

I love the combination the faded black chevron along with the burlap! It dresses up the front walkway and door perfectly 🙂 I can’t wait to make a flag for Fall!!

1. I’m not really sure I can explain my immense love for this entire Vintage Americana setup! It’s absolutely perfect!! I highly encourage you to stop by the wonderful Pizzazzerie and feast your eyes on this adorable 4th of July party! She provides all the deats for the printables used (even a freebie!).
2. We all know my love for burlap wreaths, so it’s no wonder why this one caught my eye! It’s absolutely adorable! You can easily use this same technique for dressing up your wreath for the fourth! I think I see a weekend project coming my way (wink!)
3. I love all the vintage details in this lovely set up from my blogger friend Allison at The Golden Sycamore! Head over and check out how she uses true vintage pieces, along with new, and incorporates them to make this vignette pop!!
4. Mmm, mmm, mmm… This patriotic dessert looks divine! It’s nice and light, but full of sweetness! I will definitely be making this one this year! Head on over to Curly Girl Kitchen and check out the full recipe there! Enjoy J

{ Dressing Up Your Wreath! }

January 28, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: burlap bubble wreath, burlap wreath, DIY wreath, peacock feathers, wreath, wreath tutorial 20 Comments

I’m going through another phase of obsessing over burlap bubble wreaths! You can view my previous tutorial  on how to make the wreath, here. These wreaths are so beautiful and don’t need much to make them stand out, but if you love pretty things like I do, then it’s fun to accessorize your wreath with the seasons!

My latest accessories were a charming, ivory feather and glitter covered “twigs”. I added these to alligator clips using hot glue. This way it’s easy for me to take them on and off as I want! I also made a stunning peacock clip. These feathers are just incredibly beautiful!

So, what do you think, pretty fancy huh?!

Lovely Burlap Wreath

October 12, 2012 by Fotini Filed Under: burlap, burlap craft ribbon, burlap wreath, diy, holiday wreath, wire wreath, wreath 42 Comments

I love meeting new people! A few weeks ago, I got a call from a Mom whose son is in Christian’s class, and she wanted to plan a play date! We met at her house on a Saturday afternoon and chatted while the kids played. I soon found out that she loved crafting too! She showed me some of her fabulous creations, but there was one in particular that I fell in love with. It was a beautiful, full burlap wreath. We had a great time talking about all things we loved making and scheduled another get together, this time at my house and making that wreath!

Here’s what you’re going to need:

  • 15 yards of  3 inch burlap craft ribbon on spool
  • 18 inch wire wreath frame
  • Scissors
Start by grabbing the end of your burlap and feeding it through one end, leaving about a quarter inch as the ‘tongue’. Be sure to leave about a half inch (height wise) of burlap loops. Continue to weave your burlap through the additional two wires, and twist the bottom a couple times before continuing onto the next section. Continue this three to four times in each section of the wire wreath, pushing the burlap back as you go. This will create the “scrunching” look that makes the wreath look full! Simply cut your burlap free from the spool when done. You can hot glue the loose end on the back or simply tuck it into the wiring. Perfect and fluff in any desired places.
I am so happy with how this turned out! It’s so beautiful to look at and a cinch to make 😉 I plan on adding some removable embellishments that I can swap out for each holiday! I’ll update when that time comes…
