Fab Pins of the Week!

April 10, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, fab pins of the week, home decor, Pinterest, Spring, Uncategorized 4 Comments

Hey you! Welcome to my little corner.. I hope you will stick around for awhile! I’m so glad the weekend is here! It has been raining all week here in Ohio, I’m not complaining, really I’m not.. But the weekend is supposed to be a gorgeous one and I can’t wait!

I am just aching to get outside and work in my garden, and I think that’s exactly what I will do tomorrow! Our garden wasn’t very big last year, I would say maybe 7 feet by 4 feet, or so. I would like to nearly double that this year! My strawberries are growing “like weeds” and I can’t wait until they begin producing!! So anyways, I could go on for hours about gardening, my flowers and my visions with you, but I will do you a favor and cut it short 😉 This week I have been inspired by gardening and I hope you will leave here inspired too!

March 13, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, fab pins of the week, Pinterest, Uncategorized 3 Comments

Hey there and welcome! What have you been up to this week? It’s been a very busy one here at our house! We got a good bit of rain which melted the snow and I was just super thrilled about that! Temps have been in the low 50’s which feels like a heat wave! And, my crocus are in bloom and  my tulips are beginning! Ahh, I love Spring!

Old Filing Cabinet Makeover

March 2, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: 2015, diy, home decor 25 Comments

An office isn’t complete without a filing cabinet! A place to store all those pesky, but important papers! We had an old and beat up black filing cabinet that my husband said he wanted to use in the office. I looked at it, and looked at him… huh? No way! After a couple of days of thinking about how we could afford-ably and easily give this bland piece of office furniture a makeover, my husband surprised me with a fantastic solution!

Chair makeover for the beginner!

February 23, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: 2015, diy, home decor 20 Comments

I still haven’t decided whether Craigslist is my friend or enemy… Kidding, totally kidding! I scour my local Craigslist frequently in search of reasonably priced, sometimes free, furniture in need of a little love! It’s truly amazing what a little paint and new fabric can do to a piece!

Simple Office Storage

February 16, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: design, diy, home office, office storage, simple storage solution, storage box 12 Comments

What I love about decorating my office, is I literally had a blank space that I got to decorate! But, in the same breath, that means I have to find items that provides adequate storage and has an affordable price tag! I’m still not done decorating and rearranging my office, so until then I’m just sharing little bits and pieces with you!

While at Jo Ann Fabrics, I picked up this cute light pink photo box for $3. I’m not sure if it’s just the times, or what, but I’m loving gold accents. I knew that just by simply painting the chrome label gold that would give this little box an entire new look! So, that’s just what I did! Using Decoart elegant finish in glorious gold, I carefully painted the chrome label, allowing it to completely dry between coats. I did a total of 3 coats. And it was done! Just like that, I have a chic little box for all my odds and end pieces that usually end up sitting on my desk! What I love about these photo boxes is they look adorable stacked on top of each other or simply by them selves. They’re great for photos (obvi), craft paints, writing utensils, stickers, thank you and note cards, chargers (computer, camera, iPhone, etc.) and so much more! So what do you think? A pretty, simple storage solution, right?

Thanksgiving Tablescape

November 19, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: centerpieces, diy, fall, home decor, natural decor, tablescapes, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving centerpiece, Thanksgiving tablescape 11 Comments

I am super excited for Thanksgiving this year! We have been so busy with work, extracurricular activities, traveling, school, home projects and more, that it seems we’ve not got to spend much time with family. I can’t wait to spend time with everyone on Thanksgiving! We will be hosting dinner at our house, so it’s been fun playing around with my tablescape for this year! I’ve teamed up with some lovely ladies who are also sharing more tablescape ideas and yummy recipes to try this Thanksgiving, check them out below!

Thanksgiving
This Fall I’ve opted for a more natural, simple setting. I got my pumpkins, squash and gourds early in the season, so at this point they are beginning to turn colors and age, but that just brings out the beauty in this tablescape. Adding greenery to the mix also makes the setting more inviting. I added some dried branches to a porcelain pitcher to add some height to the table. More than likely the day before Thanksgiving I will buy some fresh greenery and flowers. You can never go wrong with fresh flowers!

My favorite part about this tablescape is the paper leaves I cut out using my silhouette. Each leaf has a bible verse written on it that relates to being thankful. My plan is to have family read them before we pray. I think this  is a special way to express just how thankful and blessed we all are! Adding meaningful touches to your tablescape will always wow your guests! Also, in the background, on my buffet, you will see ‘our thankful tree‘ I shared last year!

I hope each and every one of you have a very blessed and memorable Thanksgiving this year!

DIY Spooky Bat Banner

October 22, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: banner, crafts, diy, DIY banner, fall, Halloween, Halloween banner, halloween decor, home decor 24 Comments

Do you decorate for Halloween? Typically, I don’t, I just decorate for Fall in general. Last year I shared my first Halloween mantle I created for the kids costume party we were having. This year we planned a Fall fire with friends and I wanted to make a cute, quick little banner to display outside! This banner took me under 15 minutes, no joke!
Using my silhouette machine, I downloaded a set of bats for $0.99! I arranged the set of (4) bats on the page. I used 5 pieces of black construction paper and got to work! One piece of construction paper fit the 4 bats perfectly. Once they were all cut out, I grabbed my heated glue gun and began to attach them to my fishing line in different directions creating a pattern. I did this for the full length until my bats were gone. My particular banner is rather long, but that’s the way I wanted it! I took it outside and taped it into place on our barn. It was perfectly windy, so it made the bats appear to be flying! The kids loved it! This is a cute staple piece that we will add to our Halloween decor for years to come and it was so simple to make!
Sharing this project on these lovely blogs!
