You’ve heard me say it before, I love decorating for the 4th of July! This year is a little different for our family, we will be spending the Holiday in the Bahamas for a family vacation! Despite the fact I haven’t decorated much around the house (since we won’t be here), I have still been getting completely inspired!

I’m  sharing some of the great red, white & blue projects I’ve shared in the past! Click on the image for the original post!

DIY botanical prints

“This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Glad, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #pressnsealhacks http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV”

Hi there and welcome! I’m pretty excited to share this simple, fun project the kids and I did this week using Glad Press’n Seal I picked up at Walmart. The days have been rainy nearly everyday here in Ohio, so I’m left finding ways to keep the little ones busy indoors! The great thing about this project is it can be done all year around!

diy botanical prints

A few things you’re going to need for this project are: a roll of Glad Press’n Seal, scissors, live leafs of any kind, kraft paper, stamps, ink and glue stick.

To begin, pull out and rip off a piece of the Glad Press’n Seal to your desired size. Lay it with the sticky side up. Grab a leaf or group of leaves you’ve chosen and press into place. Using kraft paper, stamps and ink, create labels according to the type of plant. Use a glue stick to hold into place. Grab another piece of Glad Press’n Seal, the same size as the first, and place sticky side down. Using your hands, push over the entire piece, leaving little to no air inside. Trim the ends and sides if needed, and voila! You now have your own little piece of botanical art!!

It’s amazing to think that a kitchen product could be used for so many different, creative things, but it’s endless! Using your imagination and creativity you can create anything! This is such a cool product because it adheres to nearly any surface!

The kids and I had a really fun time making these DIY botanical prints with leaves from around our yard! They can’t wait to make more using leaves from plants in our garden!

So what do you think? That’s easy enough, right?! What are a few creative ways you could use this product for more than just in the kitchen?

It was such a pleasure to have you here today! Thanks for stopping by <3

Progress in the master

May 18, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, home decor 2 Comments

I may be the worlds slowest decorator… We have lived in our home for three years now and we are just getting around to finishing our master bedroom. Some of you may find it ridiculous, and just hearing it makes me slightly embarrassed! But, in the same breath, my styles change and I find myself really falling in love with what we’re currently doing so I think the wait will be worth it!

Garden Themed Birthday Party

May 11, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: crafts, diy, Spring, Uncategorized

Hello there! I am so stinkin’ excited to share my daughter’s garden themed birthday party with you today! We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather! It was quite windy though, that made picture taking a little difficult, but I think I was able to capture the party anyway!

garden party

It’s no secret, you’ve heard me say many time before just how much I LOVE planning parties! Isabella was turning 4 this year, so I asked her if she knew a theme she wanted for her party.. Surprisingly she said a garden party and I was just elated! I knew right away I wanted lots of fresh flowers, berries and incorporating it all together.

I used a beautiful combination of white and pink snapdragons from Trader Joes, and the pink tulips and white hydrangeas were from my local grocery. I probably spend the most $$ on flowers, but I’m okay with that 😉 I snagged the adorable berry baskets with a coupon from Michaels! I saved the glass bottles from cream soda that previously drank (I love using these for fresh flowers!). You might notice the adorable burlap banner from Target for a cool $3! And yes, I did make the cake.. I was opting for the “naked cake” look. I am a lot of things, however, I am NOT a baker! It did taste good though 😉

I had a table setup for planting your own flower, and this also acted as the “thank you” gift for them to take home! The kids had fun with this, and it was super cute to watch them get their hands dirty! Stay tuned for the garden printable used, I will be sharing it this Wednesday on Just Us Four blog!!

DIY Flower Pots

April 13, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: crafts, diy, home decor, Pinterest, Spring Leave a Comment

Hi, so wonderful to have you! The weather around here has been beautiful, and I’m loving every minute of it! I’ve been planting tons of flowers! Each year I opt for a color pattern and specific flower, and this year I let the kids decide. They chose shades of purple pansies. I am really loving the color combination together! I will share some photos of our front landscaping another time. Until then, I’m sharing a fun little way to update some old flower pots you may have lying around!

Okay, so could this before pic be any more horrid, gracious! A few years back I bought these light yellow plastic pots at Target. They’ve done their job rightfully so by housing some beautiful blooms, but I just wasn’t feelin’ the color any more. I knew it was nothing a little spray paint couldn’t fix! But, not just any spray paint… Chalkboard spray paint! And yes, I know what you’re thinking… “she’s still into that chalkboard craze?” and the answer is YES, yes I am! The possibilities are endless and I love letting my imagination run wild.

DIY flower pots

I cleaned up the pots and began spraying an even coat of chalkboard spray paint on each pot. It’s important to let each coat of paint dry completely before applying the next. Once the first coat was dry, I applied a heavy second coat, and let dry. To activate the chalkboard effect, grab a piece of chalk and begin rubbing it over the entire piece. This is an important step not to skip! Wipe off using a lightly damp paper towel and you’re all set to go! I like the look of chalk roughed up, or rubbed on there, so that’s the look I went with!

I wrote “watch me grow” on one of the pots, pretty fitting, don’t you think? 😉 And please excuse our horrible looking deck. We still have yet to do anything with that mess! But, look at that.. Little Lola girl decided to pose with the new flower pots! She’s a fan of them, and I am too! I can’t wait to see and enjoy the beauty of them, and the flowers!

Thank you so much for stopping by!
