Storefront Update!

Storefront update!

This is a post that is long overdue and for that I’m sorry! I know many of you have been wondering when we are going to open our store. Well, the initial goal when we first began this crazy journey, was late Fall 2017. The original goal date came and went. Then we set another date, and it came and went. As you can imagine, this was frustrating, disappointing and embarrassing to say the least. I was really hoping to get up and running before Christmas, but that didn’t work out and we were ok with that. That would allow us to really enjoy the Holidays with our babies, and that’s just what we did! We were anxiously awaiting January 2018 so we could get a running start with finishing up the very few things that needed completed. However, the weather had a little something else in mind…

We couldn’t work in the fridged temperatures and get done what we needed to. Not only that, but our barn was placed directly on the city line. All of our work was halted until our store could be moved back at least 5 feet. And this was no easy task! It required the barn movers to come up with the correct equipment to move it. Not to mention, that all the work we had done inside could be at risk because of all the pressure. I was told that the walls could cave in because we had the “open concept” and no support in the middle. [Read more…]

December 11, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas 3 Comments

Last week, I shared my Christmas tree design with you all, and today I’m sharing my farmhouse CHIC mantel design! As I mentioned in last weeks post, my main source of inspiration was the beautiful mercury glass Christmas trees I purchased from Marhshalls. I am absolutely obsessed with them!

Champagne, Glitter Farmhouse Chic Christmas Tree 2017

November 29, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas 105 Comments

Decorating for Christmas is one of my absolutely most favorite things EVER! I know this may sound crazy to some of you, but it’s something I think about multiple times throughout the year. Anytime I see a design that really inspires me, I kind of keep it in my mind for my upcoming Christmas decor. Today I have the pleasure of sharing with you my champagne, glitter farmhouse chic Christmas tree 2017!

It’s just inevitable, Christmas and glitter go hand-in-hand in our home! The tree, the garland, ornaments, presents.. it’s all got a little bit of glitter going on. Not only is it beautiful to look at during the day, but the way it glistens when the Christmas lights hit it at night is just mesmerizing! My color choices this year were apart of a more feminine edge, champagnes, blushes, silvers, golds. I didn’t go all out and purchase a bunch of new ornaments or anything. I still incorporated our traditional favorites into it, which makes this tree my favorite of all time!

Have you ever heard that joke that someone has O.P.D (ornament placement disorder)? Well, unfortunately that’s typically me every year. I would spend hours making sure the tree was as perfect as could be, each ornament meticulously placed. But, NOT this year! I let my babies jump right in and decorate the tree at their will. Granted, I let them decorate mostly the back, but I didn’t mind when they added a few sentimental ornaments to the front. It made it that much more special!

Little Drummer Boy- Inspired Christmas

November 24, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas

This year, I teamed up with Treetopia to create a one-of-a-kind little drummer boy- inspired Christmas tree! To some, I may decorate too early, but for me I just get to enjoy it longer! Being a home decor blogger, doesn’t help much either 😉 It’s kind of like retail, you have to stay ahead of the game! Decorating early comes with the territory.

One of my very favorite things about decorating the Christmas tree each year, is gathering the inspiration for that specific tree. I wanted my tree to be simple, yet beautiful and I have to say, I think I accomplished just that! The tree I chose this year for my office, was the Alexander Fir Christmas Tree 7.5’ Clear. It’s full branches and perfectly placed white lights are magical!

I always begin by placing my statement pieces or ornaments first. I’ve found that going in a pattern works best and makes the tree have some symmetry. So in this case, I added the gemmed up beaded ornaments first, alternating the gold and bronze. These ornaments are so unique and catch the light beautifully! I wasn’t quite sure at first, how I was going to capture the theme of the little drummer boy. Then, I thought something as simple as, little drummer boy silhouettes would immediately set the tone. I found these free silhouettes here. To continue with that theme, I printed off the sheet music of the hymn, here. These were simply the best touches of the tree!

Next I went through and added some simple picture frame ornaments, mercury glass balls and sprigs here and there for texture. The simplicity of this design is captivating to me! It truly is simple and allows me to enjoy the beauty of the tree and white lights!

Speaking of white, I went outside my comfort zone a little and opted for a white garland. When I first opened the package I was a little nervous I wouldn’t be able to incorporate it into my design. But, this just goes to show sometimes stepping out of your comfort zone is necessary, even if it’s just decorating for Christmas 😉 Had the garland been the traditional green, I think it would of been too much and completely taken away from the tree. I draped the glittering white garland with a frosted eucalyptus garland I previously had and it was the perfect touch!

The beautiful sadie Fir wreath fit like a glove on my beloved silhouette stand. To tie in with the design, I simply tied a piece of satin white ribbon around the waste. What a big difference that little detail made! At a routine stop at Marshall’s, I spotted sheet music wrapping paper. That was the icing on the cake, if you will, to the little drummer boy Christmas tree!

It was a true treat to be apart of the Treetopia Design Council this year! Make sure to stop by and check out all the other amazing Christmas designs!

Simple, Early Fall Mantel

September 25, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: fall

I’m not going to lie… I decorated this mantel mid August! Once the kids were back in school, I found myself with a little more down-time and decided it get a head start on my decorating! I have to say, I’m glad that I did. We are super busy preparing for barn shows we have coming up, AND if you didn’t see via Instagram or Facebook, our barn was delivered last week so we are busy working on that anytime we can! I will share more info about our storefront in another post soon!

I wanted to keep my early Fall mantel, simple at first! It’s always easy to go back and add little pumpkins, fresh greenery and such. As you know, I love using fresh greenery, but I found some beautiful, faux stems that don’t look “fake”. I don’t like the ones that you look at and automatically know they’re not real. So, I added those cute little stems to this mantel design.

And as always, my trusty go-to antique books never disappoint! They are the easiest way to add instant character to my designs. Throw in some candles and tea lights and you’re good to go!

This sweet mantel design will be getting a face-lift soon with some sweet baby boo pumpkins!

It was a pleasure to have you here today!

See you next time 🙂

Antique wardrobe makeover!

July 17, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: decor

Makeovers seem to be our thing these days, and I have to say… I’m not mad about it! I absolutely adore taking a beat up, neglected antiques and bringing them back to life! We scored this sad looking wardrobe from a local yard sale. The original idea for the piece was to paint it white, of course! Little did we know, this wood was mahogany and it bleeds through pink. This was our first encounter with mahogany. We used primer and added multiple coats, but still got the bleeding through.

Summer Tour of Homes

May 22, 2017 by Fotini Filed Under: home decor

A couple weeks before Memorial Day, and I’m decorating the house in a patriotic theme! It’s perfect because we are so busy with birthday parties, bbq’s, camping, extracurricular actives, barn sales and whatever else comes up, that I don’t have to decorate for the 4th of July! I love adding a little patriotic feel to my normal farmhouse decor!
