We are sharing a Farmhouse Chic storefront progress update with you & we want your opinions!
It’s been a couple weeks since we first announced that Farmhouse Chic was opening a storefront!!! Our days have been busy between working “real” jobs, working on the store, ordering inventory for the store, unpacking inventory, tagging inventory and storing it until the store is ready to stage. There is A LOT of work that comes with opening a store, especially in our case! As I mentioned in this post we ordered a custom Amish-built 14×30 high barn. What all that means? We have a 420 square foot space that we get to finish out and turn into a store!
I’m trying to keep costs as affordable as possible for us to start up! We (my honey) have been putting in long hours to get things like electrical and insulation completed. We have started hanging the shiplap on all the walls! Shiplap, shiplap, shiplap! I cannot get enough of that stuff! All of the walls will be finished out in shiplap and painted white. The ceilings will be finished out with main beams exposed and all painted white. We have a skylight that lets in a lot of natural light, which is great! We will, however, be installing two chandeliers and a ceiling fan.
Beautiful tongue and groove wood floors will be stained and sealed. We haven’t decided on a stain color for those yet. What are your thoughts so far?
We have also got the barn door and outdoor light up. I do, though, feel that the outdoor light isn’t big enough. And, although I love the color of the barn door, I feel like it needs to be painted black. I think it just took me seeing it together, to know exactly what I wanted. With that said, the barn door will soon be painted black and the outdoor lighting will be swapped out with a larger, galvanized fixture.
Our building ended up sitting up higher off the ground than I had anticipated. Because of that, we will have to opt for either tiered stairs or a side ramp into the barn. My dad and Kenny are suggesting the ramp, that would lead from the parking lot straight into the door. For me, I am picturing 14 foot stairs the entire length of the barn, 2 or 3 tiers, that would be beautiful to decorate throughout the seasons! That hasn’t been decided yet!
Well, that’s all for now friends! Just wanted to give you a quick little update on the progress of the storefront! We will be sharing more with you as we continue to cross things off our list!
Please share your input on things like the stain color for the floors and what to do about the ramp or stairs!
See you next time 🙂
It looks Beautiful, can’t wait to see it completed!!
Thank you!! Me neither 🙂 It’s fun to see my dream finally come true!
