Storefront update!
This is a post that is long overdue and for that I’m sorry! I know many of you have been wondering when we are going to open our store. Well, the initial goal when we first began this crazy journey, was late Fall 2017. The original goal date came and went. Then we set another date, and it came and went. As you can imagine, this was frustrating, disappointing and embarrassing to say the least. I was really hoping to get up and running before Christmas, but that didn’t work out and we were ok with that. That would allow us to really enjoy the Holidays with our babies, and that’s just what we did! We were anxiously awaiting January 2018 so we could get a running start with finishing up the very few things that needed completed. However, the weather had a little something else in mind…
We couldn’t work in the fridged temperatures and get done what we needed to. Not only that, but our barn was placed directly on the city line. All of our work was halted until our store could be moved back at least 5 feet. And this was no easy task! It required the barn movers to come up with the correct equipment to move it. Not to mention, that all the work we had done inside could be at risk because of all the pressure. I was told that the walls could cave in because we had the “open concept” and no support in the middle.
For days, my heart would ache with the desire to go and work on our little store, my dream! I began to dwindle at the thought of not even opening it all. After all, we kept running into so many hurdles, it seemed impossible! Many nights I prayed. I prayed that if this little dream of mine was God’s will, that I would keep my faith that things would work out.
Just this week, I finally got the call I was looking for! The call that the movers were coming to town to move the barn! Was this real? I could barely believe it! I showed up a little early and prayed. The man showed up minutes later to move the barn. He tried a few ways to move it, but his trailer kept sinking in the wet, muddy grass. He approached me and told me it just couldn’t be moved in the current conditions. Once again, my heart sank. I wanted to cry. I begged him to please try one more time. He did. And after a lot of maneuvering and patience, the barn was moved! Praise the Lord! This one BIG thing that completely set us back and halted any further work was DONE!
I felt immensely happy and immediate relief! Just typing this, I’m shaking! I can’t believe that we are finally able to get back into our little space and finish it up! Our goal this weekend is to finish up just as much as we can before we start moving things in and staging it for our grand opening.
At this time, I’m not setting a specific grand opening date until we are truly ready this time. We are just so close we can taste it though, so it will be this Spring without a doubt!
I want to thank each and every one of you for your support, patience, concern and prayers! It means the world to me to have the support of such amazing people! We are just so excited to finally get to open the doors here soon and live out our dream with Farmhouse Chic storefront!
I will be back soon with our grand opening details as we begin to make them!
Below are some pictures of the barn on moving day! And may I mention, that it was done with little damage! Our walls were fine. The outside of our barn did take a little damage, but nothing that can’t be fixed!
