My Very Simple Spring Mantle

March 24, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: home decor, pastels, Spring, Spring decor 3 Comments

Ah, Spring! I was just absolutely thrilled for Spring to finally arrive! Fresh starts, new life, blooming flowers, pretty colors and sunshine ♥ What’s not to love! A few of my watercolor pieces of art that I shared last week are the focal of the mantle. And of course, my mercury glass collection is also on display! My collection just seems to keep growing!!
I love the mix of pastels, grays and white in this very simple design. One of my favorite ways to add a little bit of color is fresh flowers! So adding some beautiful pink tulips, roses or carnations would really make this design pop!
I’m working on a few fun projects for Easter, I can’t wait to share them with you all soon! For sneak peeks, follow me on Instagram!

Watercolor Art

March 17, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: art, painting, Spring, watercolor 3 Comments

I wanted to bring in some color into my normally neutral decor, for Spring. While painting one day with my daughter, I thought I would play around with some basic designs and created some fun pieces for Spring! I really love this idea to frame your little one’s art too! I can’t wait to display some of their masterpieces in our basement!
For this project, I combined pastels in lines using swiping motions, alternating the colors. Let dry. I scored two beautiful picture frames, from Target on clearance for $4.98 each, earlier in the week and knew the watercolor would look perfect in them! I simply traced the size of the frame and inserted them! Voila, instant, beautiful color!
I cannot wait to make more!! You can really let your creativity show with projects like this! Making one of a kind pieces for your home, as gifts, invitations and more!

Spring is coming and I just couldn’t be more excited! With Spring, comes beautiful flowers and that makes me happy! One of my favorite, easy accessories to add to any space is fresh flowers! It’s the best way to add color and personality to your decor!

With that being said, I’m sharing a few of the beautiful blooms I’ve welcomed into my home this week! I have a combination of dainty white tulips and gorgeous blush roses. And the best part about these two, is I found them in the clearance section of the floral department in my local grocer.

Bringing Spring to the Door!

March 3, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, DIY wreath, flowers, Spring, Spring wreath 16 Comments

The minute we had warmer temps I had the urge to bust out all the pretty stuff for Spring! I should of known that was short lived, we’ve been getting more snow all weekend! Anyways, I wanted to bring Spring to my front door, even if the weather outside wasn’t so inviting yet!
I headed to Jo Ann’s where I was really pleased to find an adorable flat-backed, faux watering can just perfect for the front door! I always have a nice time browsing their selection of flowers because there’s truly such a variety, I love it! This time I opted for pretty white tulips and a bright pink flowery, long- stemmed bloom. Once I was home, I took a piece of black felt that I already had, traced the shape of the watering can with white colored pencil and cut it out. Next, using a hot glue gun, glue it to the back of the watering can leaving the very top unglued for now. This will act as a protector from scratching your door in the event of it moving! If necessary, use a wire cutter to trim the end of the flowers to fit the length desired. Play around with their placement until you’re happy with how it looks! I took the adorable burlap and polka dot ribbon, cut it to length and super glued it to the back of the can, and then glued the felt that you had previously left unglued at the top, and glued it into place. And voila, hang on your door and relish all the cuteness, even if the weather isn’t permitting just yet 😉

Fab Pins of the Week

February 28, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: blue and white, fab pins of the week, home, hydrangeas, Pinterest, Spring Leave a Comment

Hello beautiful and happy Friday!!
I’m so glad you’re here today! I get to share with you a few of my favorites this week!
Last week I was so excited with the warmer temperatures, but should of known it was short lived! We’re back to the mid-twenties here! But, I know that Spring is coming and that is very inspiring!

1. This is such a beautiful backyard oasis! I am such a sucker for blue hydrangeas. I also love the beautiful white and blue accents, it really sets a serene mood! I can’t wait to design a comfy and inviting space in our backyard for us to enjoy with family and friends this Spring!
2. I am in LOVE with this dining room design. Isn’t it just gorgeous! I love these style of chairs and love the little accents that number each chair. The curtains are really a beautiful touch to this space. The mixed shade of blue in the curtains tie in with the small amount of blue in the napkins, and really tie the space together.
3. Such a darling shed for the backyard! Not to mention those stunning blue hydrangeas!! I love the archway, it completely makes this little shed into something special!
4. Oh my gracious, I am in love with these! I can’t wait to have these a part of my decor again this Spring and Summer! Hydrangeas are such a gorgeous flower and can easily dress up and add class to any space with such little effort! Put them in a gorgeous bowl, antique pitcher, or even a mason jar, and you have an instant conversation piece!
