Fab Pins of the Week

January 31, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: brights, decor, fresh flowers, home, home decor, neturals, Pinterest 1 Comment

It’s Friday, woohoo! Any big plans for the weekend?
Nothing specific here, just catching up on some errands I’ve not been able to get done with the crazy Polar Vortex we’ve been having!
With that being said, I’ve been drawn to beautiful brights, I’m craving Spring! πŸ™‚

1. I love love love the simplicity of this living room! The beautiful bright whites pairs perfectly with the spurts of gold and metallics! Not to mention that beautiful burst of color in the painting! A room like this wouldn’t stay white for long in my house, but it sure is pretty to look at πŸ™‚
2. I really love the thoughts of have a neutral room and using fresh flowers and something as simple as books to add color and bring life into a room! It’s basically a blank slate that can be changed up, moved around and re-decorated at any time! I’m thinking this is going to be more the route I go with for my home office! You can even take any books you may have or even books from the thrift store and wrap them in your desired wrapping paper to blend better with your decor! Target has some adorable white and metallic gold striped wrapping paper right now that would be perfect paired with some pops of color added in!
3. This would be perfect as a guest room! What a beautiful, bright and inviting design! I love the mix of pink, orange and red together! The gray and white really make these colors pop, I love it! You can never go wrong with adding a gorgeous crystal chandelier to any bedroom! It’s the perfect statement piece to any room!
4. Again, a room like this wouldn’t last long at my house, but I love the thoughts of it! White couches and chairs, ah! The pops of color and pattern in with the pillows, again, can easily be changed at any time but provide character for this room! Initially, I was drawn immediately to the gorgeous bouquet of fresh peonies! I love incorporating fresh flowers into my decor as often as possible!!

Fab Pins of the Week

Hey, hey it’s Friday!! I’m so glad you’re here and starting your weekend out with me πŸ™‚
I have completely been crushing on gold lately! So that’s what I’m sharing this week! Let’s get to it!!

1. I adore wearing sweaters in Winter! This year I have a few really cute statement sweaters that are not only comfy and warm, but super adorable! However, I only have one sweater that has elbow patches, and it’s not this cute!! I don’t know what it is about elbow patches, but I love them β™₯ Especially these ones pictured, they’re sparkly! I have found numerous tutorials on Pinterest for adding your own elbow patches, I may make this an upcoming project πŸ˜‰
2. This gold accent wall is fabulous! The perfect addition to this simple office. It also looks quite charming with the light grey wall next to it, which is perfect so you can mix metallics! I’m really, really into mixing metallics right now! Gold is making a come back, it’s no longer a thing of the past and I love it!
3. These pillows are fabulous!! They would be perfect in a feminine office and fantastic as a gift idea! These are available via an Etsy shop and she has a lot of darling, easily customizable pieces so be sure to check them out! I really love these, I see a DIY pillow cover post coming soon πŸ˜‰
4. I need this clutch! My husband probably wouldn’t agree with that haha, by looking in my closet it doesn’t look like I need much of anything! But this is such a gorgeous statement piece! Especially paired with a solid outfit, it makes the perfect statement! I found some similiar here, here and here!

Fab Pins of the Week

January 17, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: Black, claw foot tub, decor, fab pins of the week, home, Pinterest 2 Comments

Happy Friday!! Another week has flown by, do you feel that way too?
Looking forward to play-dates with friends, a little shopping, spending time with the fam and even my first jewelry party of 2014!
This week I’ve been inspired by bold, black accents in decor!

1. Feminine- classy, I look at this picture and am just drawn to it! I’m in love with the gallery wall, it’s fantastic! The sporadic black frames give the wall depth! This is the perfect look for my office. I love the light colored couch with bold animal print pillows, and I really love the velvet green- fabric chair! It’s so much fun!
2. Those floors are the bees-knees! But, I’m a total sucker for a claw-foot tub!! This beautiful, black claw-foot tub makes the entire bathroom! At some point in my life, I really hope to own a claw-foot tub. They are just gorgeous, I can’t even image!!
3. So pretty! I love the mix of gold and rose gold accents! The simple black picture frame, along with the black and white photo create a calming combination for this cute little bathroom! I love seeing things I typically wouldn’t put together, and they turn out cute, like this one!
4. I love the hot pink used in this office space! I am just dying to get to decorating my office! I don’t “have” it yet because our basement isn’t finished, but it’s coming soon! I love browsing ideas and gathering a bunch of inspiration!

{ Making A Statement }

January 2, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: accent chairs, decor, furniture history, home, home decor, One Kings Lane 20 Comments

In case you didn’t know already, I LOVE to decorate! What I love even more is incorporating sentimental, aged pieces into my decor! We are fortunate to have quite a few pieces that are our family heirlooms! I do, however, have some “new” additions that I really just love! I say “new” because they’re new to me, but they are visibly aged with chippy goodness!

I think the beauty of furniture and art comes out with age. The significance becomes more defined and cherished. I love looking at a piece knowing there is a history behind it! With that being said, I’m excited to share one of my favorite pieces with you today! It’s a chair that was given to me by a dear friend! I’m not quite sure of it’s exact history but just by the looks of it, I know that it’s old!

My beautiful, chippy chair is an accent to my entryway and creates the perfect charm for the rest of my decor! I’ve contemplated painting the piece but I just love the layered, original ware of it, so I’ve decided to keep it as is!

If you aren’t quite sure of the history of one of your favorite(s) chairs, you can use this fantastic Home Decor Resource from One Kings Lane! Here is a little bit of info I found out about mine! I searched under 1900-Present with so many articles relating to that era revealed! It’s a super fun- informative way to research new furniture you may be seeking or furniture you already own!

So, do tell, do you have a favorite chair in your home?

This is the bottom of the chair, you can tell the age here!

Autumn on the Porch

September 16, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: Autumn, decor, diy, DIY craft, fall, Fall front porch, front porch 21 Comments

I just love Fall and all the colors that come with it! The burnt oranges, rustic burgundys’, olive greens and metallics adorn my home the entire Fall season! It’s so much fun to create your own Fall decor to enjoy! Today I’m going to share with you how I created a simple Autumn sign!

If you’ve been following along with my blog for awhile, you have probably seen a couple of these type of signs before! I just love making them because they’re so simple, affordable and cute! You will use at total of 12 shims for this project. Begin by laying two horizontally and start gluing the shims one by one until completed. I broke of the ends of a few of mine just to add some character! I painted the shims a beautiful, warm color: Valspar Coral Gable Biltmore Mediterranean Carmel. I gave it a good two coats and let dry completely.

I sketched out by hand my pumpkin and font design. I began to fill in the pumpkin using clear craft glue and sprinkling with gold glitter evenly. While that was drying I filled in my stem with brown craft paint and traced the penciled wording with black craft paint, let dry.
The first time I held up my sign Β to view, some of the loose glitter fell onto the, still wet, lettering creating an awesome glittery effect! I couldn’t be more happy with that oopsie πŸ™‚
To complete this project, cut a shim in half and glue together at (about) a 45 degree angle. This creates a sturdy backing! And voila, an adorable custom sign just like that!

Hey there, beautiful!

My inspiration this week has came with a little glitz and glamour!
Sparkles and charm make my heart skip a beat!

1.  Tufted headboards, they get me just about every time! They are so charming to look at! They easily provide character and class to any bedroom design. I love the neutral, softness of this feminine bedroom, with white linens and rustic glam galore!
2. Every girl needs a little sparkle in her wardrobe! I love this sequined clutch, but I’m a total sucker for the neutral blouse and pumps! This is such a fun, girly outfit! I don’t get to dress up often, but it always feels good to put on an outfit you love and feel beautiful in, and this one would do it for me!
3. Rustic glam at it’s finest right here! This gorgeous tablescape is just jaw dropping! If you don’t know it by now, I’m obsessed with mercury glass and just adore these mix-matched candle holders! They really make the table setting to me. The fresh floral arrangements aren’t bad either πŸ˜‰
4. One day, I hope I get the chance to have a claw foot tub! They are timeless and enchanting, seriously love them! This bathroom is a nice mix between rustic charm and glamour. The chandelier makes this space ultra glamorous!
