{ Making A Statement }

January 2, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: accent chairs, decor, furniture history, home, home decor, One Kings Lane 20 Comments

In case you didn’t know already, I LOVE to decorate! What I love even more is incorporating sentimental, aged pieces into my decor! We are fortunate to have quite a few pieces that are our family heirlooms! I do, however, have some “new” additions that I really just love! I say “new” because they’re new to me, but they are visibly aged with chippy goodness!

I think the beauty of furniture and art comes out with age. The significance becomes more defined and cherished. I love looking at a piece knowing there is a history behind it! With that being said, I’m excited to share one of my favorite pieces with you today! It’s a chair that was given to me by a dear friend! I’m not quite sure of it’s exact history but just by the looks of it, I know that it’s old!

My beautiful, chippy chair is an accent to my entryway and creates the perfect charm for the rest of my decor! I’ve contemplated painting the piece but I just love the layered, original ware of it, so I’ve decided to keep it as is!

If you aren’t quite sure of the history of one of your favorite(s) chairs, you can use this fantastic Home Decor Resource from One Kings Lane! Here is a little bit of info I found out about mine! I searched under 1900-Present with so many articles relating to that era revealed! It’s a super fun- informative way to research new furniture you may be seeking or furniture you already own!

So, do tell, do you have a favorite chair in your home?

This is the bottom of the chair, you can tell the age here!

Sharing this on these lovely blogs!

    That chair is gorgeous! I wish I had a favorite chair in my home – unfortunately I only realized recently how fun it is to decorate with a theme in mind. The mirror in the background even looks beautiful too. 🙂

    You can never go wrong with a chippy chair. The color on it is wonderful too.

    I love old furniture. I seem to have some kind of obsession with old chairs. I love yours and if I saw it for sale, I would buy it. Of course, I think my husband might leave me if I bring home one more chair. lol

    This chair is wonderful. I love everything about it. The shape, the lines, the color of paint and the chippy-ness of it too. If I had that, I would never part with it.

    I’m extremely inspired along with your writing talents as well as with
    the structure for your weblog. Is this a paid subject
    or did you customize it your self? Either way keep up the excellent high quality writing, it’s rare to see a great blog like this one nowadays.
