Joy to the World!

December 15, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas, Christmas printable, Joy to the world, printable 8 Comments

One of my absolute favorite Christmas carols is “Joy to the World”. I catch myself singing it all the time throughout the season. When I was a little girl, my Aunt Alta would have me sing it to her over and over! She was in her late 80’s and well into her 90’s while I was growing up! Memories like that, I hope I never forget! I’m also teaching it to my little ones at Church this year to perform during the Christmas Eve service! Just to hear their little voices proclaim the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ melts my heart!

I’ve created this cute chalkboard printable for you to enjoy with your Christmas decor, give as a gift or even print off and use as a gift tag! The possibilities are endless! I hope you enjoy!

Christmas Cheese-ball

December 9, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: appetizer, cheese-ball, Christmas cheese-ball, recipe-1

The holidays are the busiest time for family gatherings, open houses, ugly sweater parties, Christmas parties, birthdays and more! Add a little bit of thought to each gathering you go to this season by bringing a simple, but delicious cheese-ball! This cheese-ball is perfect for Christmas with its white, green and red! Your guests will be wowed at how tasty this simple appetizer is!
You will need one block of cream cheese, two stalks of green onion, thinly sliced beef, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce and chopped pecans for coating (optional). Let your cream cheese sit out for a good 5-10 minutes to soften up, it will be easier to work with. Begin to slice your beef. I used half of the package for one cheese ball. Cut into very little squares. Grab your stalks of green onion and chop fine. Add cream cheese, beef and green onions to a bowl, add a dash of hot sauce and Worcestershire. Mix all together with your hands, smooshing all ingredients throughout. Form together and roll between your hands to create a ball. If you’re going to use pecans for coating (which I recommend because it’s super yummy), begin to chop them into fine pieces and simply smash them against your cheese-ball. Refrigerate until serving and any extra. Serve with crackers!

25 Days of Christmas

December 2, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: 25 Days of Christmas, Christmas, Christmas 2014, Christmas traditions 167 Comments

I truly cherish the Holidays for the family traditions, memories made, gifts given and lessons learned. One of my favorite traditions I started with my children a couple of years ago, was the ’25 days of Christmas’! Today I have the pleasure of sharing with you our 2014 edition!

 Christmas

I begin preparing the first of November! I snag little goodies while I’m out and about throughout the month, with the concept in mind. My favorite spots are Target Dollar Spot, the Dollar Store, and Marshall’s clearance to name a few! I snag little things like classic Christmas books, coloring books, crafts, Nutcrackers, gingerbread kits and Christmas movies. I also buy a pack of cards with envelopes to write out the chosen activity or Bible verse for that day. I wrap the gifts and label each gift or envelope with 1-25. They don’t receive an actual “gift” everyday and the intent of this tradition is to focus on the good of the Season, doing for others and spending time together as a family! Here is our line up this year…

1. Mab libs Christmas book  2. Bible verse Luke 2:10  3. Veggie Tales movie  4. A Christmas Carol book  5. Bible verse Matthew 1:21  6. Make a snowman pizza and watch a movie  7. Nutcracker  8. Bible verse John 3:16  9. Enjoy hot chocolate and perppermint sticks  10. Decorate mugs  11. Make banner for basement  12. Write letters to Santa  13. Take letters to Macys and visit Santa  14. Gather unwanted toys  15. Gingerbread kits  16. Bible verse Romans 15:13  17. Wrap presents  18. Drive around and look at Christmas lights  19. Build a snowman  20. Zoo lights  21. Random Act of Kindness  22. Bible verse Isaiah 9:6  23. Christmas play  24. Bake cookies for Santa  25. Rejoice in the Lord!

Below is an example of the letter I type up and print out to give the people of choice that day for our random act of kindness! It’s so rewarding to see the reaction of the random people and of my children! Not to mention, the warm feeling I get too!

A Peek Inside Our Home // Christmas 2014

December 1, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas, Christmas 2014, Christmas decor, Christmas tree, neutral Christmas, plaid, tartan

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, isn’t it? One of my absolute favorite times of the year to decorate! I can honestly say, that I (at least ponder) multiple times throughout the year what my Christmas design will be that year! This year I literally could-not-wait to decorate! I caved the week before my Holiday open house and went for it! I’m so happy I did! I am just in love with how it all came together!

We will begin the tour with my entry way. Very simple, neutral decor here. I can easily add some color by adding a bowl of bulbs or throw pillow!

On to the living room!

I still have a few minor touches to add, like the presents under the tree! Thank you for touring my living room with me and I hope to see you back soon!

Fab Pins of the Week!

November 21, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas, Christmas decor, Christmas design, Pinterest, plaid 19 Comments

‘Tis the Season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la la! I can’t help but have Christmas carols in my head constantly these days! I know, we haven’t even made it to Thanksgiving yet, but I just can’t help myself! As you may know, I decorate for Christmas last week. I opted for a basic, neutral pallet. It was gorgeous, but I had to add in some color! My love for plaid took over, and the rest is history! I can’t wait to share with you all next week!!

Until then, lets get inspired…

“Vintage” Christmas Car

November 20, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas, decor, vintage, vintage car, vintage Christmas 8 Comments

I have a major addiction to checking the clearance isle every-single-time I’m at Marshalls. I consider this pretty exciting, ask my husband and he probably won’t agree (wink!). The last time I checked, I spotted this adorable vintage-looking car! Better yet, it only had a $7 price tag, score!
Although the copper and black appearance is appealing, it wouldn’t match with my Christmas decor enough. So I’m sure you know what I did… I painted it white! Not all of it, just the majority of the exterior. I kept the tires and inside the original finish. I used clay/chalk paint so it dried quick and I could move right on to the next step! I grabbed a bottle brush tree I snagged from the dollar store last year and simply anchored it in place using some red and white bakers twine. It’s that simple! I turned this aged car into the perfect “vintage” car to go along with my Christmas decor! Isn’t it just darling?
