A Peek Inside Our Home // Christmas 2014

December 1, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas, Christmas 2014, Christmas decor, Christmas tree, neutral Christmas, plaid, tartan

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, isn’t it? One of my absolute favorite times of the year to decorate! I can honestly say, that I (at least ponder) multiple times throughout the year what my Christmas design will be that year! This year I literally could-not-wait to decorate! I caved the week before my Holiday open house and went for it! I’m so happy I did! I am just in love with how it all came together!

We will begin the tour with my entry way. Very simple, neutral decor here. I can easily add some color by adding a bowl of bulbs or throw pillow!

On to the living room!

I still have a few minor touches to add, like the presents under the tree! Thank you for touring my living room with me and I hope to see you back soon!

Fab Pins of the Week!

November 21, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas, Christmas decor, Christmas design, Pinterest, plaid 18 Comments

‘Tis the Season to be jolly, fa la la la la la la la la! I can’t help but have Christmas carols in my head constantly these days! I know, we haven’t even made it to Thanksgiving yet, but I just can’t help myself! As you may know, I decorate for Christmas last week. I opted for a basic, neutral pallet. It was gorgeous, but I had to add in some color! My love for plaid took over, and the rest is history! I can’t wait to share with you all next week!!

Until then, lets get inspired…

Rustic Christmas Inspiration

November 10, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas, Christmas 2014, Christmas decor, faux fur, holiday decor, rustic Christmas, rustic decor 3 Comments

Hello there and welcome! It is truly a pleasure to have you here 🙂 If you follow me on Facebook, you know last week I mentioned how terribly I wanted to decorate for Christmas. Guys, it’s a real struggle! I have promised myself that I wouldn’t decorate until after my Holiday Open House I am having this weekend. But, you better believe the minute my open house is over, guests are gone and things are put back into their place, that I will be pulling out my Christmas stuff. Yes, I’m serious! I am just thrilled at the thoughts!!!
To help ease my urge, I put together a cute little inspiration board that I will be basing my decor off of this year! Do you keep the same style and design year to year? Or do you change it up? I like to change it up, within reason, each year! I tend to use the majority of the same ornaments, give or take a few and I have a few of my favorite, traditional family pieces that I incorporate into every design. It can get expensive, and may not be something you’re interested in doing, but if you are, my best advice is to plan the year before and shop the after Christmas sales when things can be up to 90% off.
This year I’m going for a rustic, warm design. I will be using faux fur, lots of candles, mercury glass, greenery, glitter, deers and pinecones!

{ Fab Pins of the Week }

December 20, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas, Christmas decor, Christmas tree, fab pins of the week 56 Comments

Happy Friday! This is the last Friday before Christmas, can you believe it?
I’m having a hard time grasping it! I feel like it has flown by!!
The next few days is going to be pretty exciting around here and I must say, I’m really looking forward to it! Do you have any special traditions that you do with your family and/or friends? We will be hosting our 2nd Annual Christmas Party!
Let’s check out the incredible images that have inspired me this week!

1. This smocked Christmas tree it to die for! I just love it ♥ It’s the perfect combination and has the perfect ambiance of the outdoor feel with the berries and pinecones. The details are just perfection. I love the vintage postcards. How special would it be to incorporate family memories using this concept! Not to mention, I’m totally in love with using over-sized baskets to hold presents!!
2. I’m just in love with this banner! It is such a simple concept, but I think it really makes a statement! I was also completely sold when I found out it’s covered in glitter, love!! You can easily add your favorite banner to your Christmas tree decor for that perfect flare!
3. Neutral, rustic Christmas gorgousness. Did that make sense to you, it did to me 😉 I love the keepsake ornaments covering every inch of the tree! That’s one of my favorite parts about decorating our tree each year, is pulling out our annual Christmas ornaments, ornaments the kids have made, or ornaments we’ve received as gifts! It makes our tree so special every Christmas!
4. This is such a beautiful Christmas design with lots of neutral tones and pops of red! I’m swooning over the deer head over the mantel ♥ Although I love our Christmas decor this year, I think next year I will incorporate small hints of red, it just doesn’t feel the same without it!!

{ Fab Pins of the Week }

December 13, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas, Christmas decor, fab pins of the week, fresh greenery, greenery, natural Christmas

Happy, happy Friday!! I am THRILLED it’s the weekend! Tomorrow early morning, my hubby and I are headed to Chicago for the weekend! It’s our first time ever, and I am so stinkin’ excited 🙂
This week’s fab pins are inspired by my love of greenery during the Winter season ♥  ♥

1. I love this simple, natural tablescape! Whites, fresh greenery and candle light, does it get much better? The only thing I might add would be a little sparkle, whether it be with mercury glass votives or glittery pinecones! I love the little deer figurines to add depth to the scene!
2. Incorporate natural elements into your gift wrapping! I love the idea of putting a piece of greenery with ribbon and kraft paper or even embellishing with a glittery pinecone! This is an idea that I might bring to life in our gift wrapping next year! We will just have to wait and see 😉
3. The decor for this front porch is so simple, but so gorgeous! Gorgeous swayed garland surrounding the door creates such an inviting entry! I love the live wreath with ribbon and jingle bells! Absolute classic beauty we have here!
4. I love the idea of “framing” a specific picture or piece of  art with live greenery! Add simple embellishments for more flare, by adding dangling ornaments or little bows. This is such a simple, yet outstanding idea!

Oh, Deer!

November 25, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas decor, diy, DIY pillowcase, reindeer decor, Target 24 Comments

I’ve hopped on the bandwagon of the reindeer craze! If you’re part of it too, you’re going to LOVE this post! While shopping on one of my regular trips to Target, I spotted the cutest place mats for only $3.99! I snagged one really quick with every intention of turning it into a pillow!

Once I was home I had a good bit of canvas I had purchased for another projects from Lowe’s. I grabbed my place mat and traced onto the canvas, and cut out. Before sewing, lay the place mat reindeer face down onto the canvas, and sew the the top and sides, then turn inside so that the reindeer is now on the front and you have three seamless edges. Stuff the pillow and sew along the bottom and voila! An absolutely adorable pillow for under $5!!

Fresh Greenery Wreath

December 9, 2012 by Fotini Filed Under: balsam, Christmas, Christmas decor, Christmas wreath, diy, DIY wreath, fresh greenery, wreath 6 Comments

Do you love the smell of balsam during the Holidays? Have extra tree trimmings? If you said yes to one or both of these questions, here’s the perfect craft for you! With extra tree trimmings I created a beautiful wreath for my front door!

Here’s what you’re going to need:

  • 18” wire wreath form
  • greenery
  • glue gun, glue
  • ribbon for embellishment
Start with larger pieces of greenery and begin gluing them to the outside of the wire form and holding in place until dry. Now move onto the second inner wire and follow the same process, including the very inner wire. Once your piece if covered, begin going through and filling any parts that seem bare, by simply gluing the bottom and pushing into place. I couldn’t believe how “lively” this wreath became so quickly!
As mentioned is one of my previous posts, I had tons of pine cones, so I wanted to add some to my wreath! I used craft glue on the very tips and sprinkled with silver glitter, let dry. I added 4 total. To add some color, I tied a bow with some pretty, sparkly red ribbon I had and twirled the ends. I also sprayed the wreath with a extra hold hairspray and sprinkled silver glitter throughout.
Here’s three different ways to enjoy your beautiful, fresh wreath! Add some burlap ribbon to hang over a door and keep it simple… or incorporate red to stand out by adding a bow… or keep the natural theme going by adding the pine cones for an outdoorsy feel!
Whatever style you decide on, I’m sure you will enjoy all the beauty this wreath has to offer!
