Natural Elements, Fall Centerpiece

September 29, 2014 by Fotini Filed Under: centerpiece, diy, fall, Fall centerpiece, fall decor, home decor, nature, pumpkins 4 Comments

Decorating with natural elements may be one of my favorite things to do! It doesn’t matter what season, I am always bringing something from the outside, in! It’s one of the easiest and most affordable ways to decorate!
Fall decor
Now that it’s Fall, you better believe I’m decorating with as many gourds and pumpkins as possible (wink!). I may get a little excessive at the pumpkin patch, so to make it more justifiable to my husband, I told him we would get the seeds from this years haul and plant them next year for our own pumpkin patch! He was okay with that, and I am pretty excited! Anyways, this year I am just crazy about the green gourds and pumpkins and of course, the white pumpkins will always have my heart! I just love mixing them together to create your own special centerpiece or display. I also gathered some fresh branches and intertwined them into the design. I added a few mercury glass votives, and voila!

Happy, happy Friday!! One of my favorite days of the week, yours too?
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out some of my inspiration this week!
This week’s pins were Halloween related! We will be hosting a Kids Costume Party here in the next couple weeks, so I’m in full swing of preparing for it, fun!!

1. Isn’t this mummy wrapped pumpkin darling? This is the perfect, safe and non-messy craft for kids to create adorable, personalized pumpkins! Create the perfect wrap using gauze and add googly eyes that you can purchase from the dollar store!
2. Create gorgeous, glowing pumpkins in a few easy steps! Instead  of the traditional carving technique, drill holes in a design and place mini white string lights on the inside! These are sure to brighten up your porch perfectly for Fall, and you can enjoy them long after Halloween is over!
3. Puppy chow may just be one of my favorite guilty pleasures! I have been coming across sooo many new recipes this season! This particular recipe yields the perfect Halloween mixture! If you’re looking for a satisfying snack for your Halloween party, look no longer, this is it! Your guests will be begging for more 😉
4. This spook-tacular Halloween mantle is charmingly frightful! I love the mix of natural elements and bold accents! The black displays really make this mantle pop, don’t you think?!

Happy Friday!! I am thrilled it’s the weekend, I’m sure you are too!
Thanks for starting your weekend out with me 🙂 This week I’m sharing a few of my favorite pins that remind me Fall at it’s finest!

1. I’m absolutely in love with the variety of pumpkin colors this year! Maybe I just never payed much attention in previous years, but I’ve been spotting them so much this year ♥ I’m crazy about the ones Marian, aka, Miss Mustard Seeds displays hers! Her entire Fall setup if just breathtaking! Believe me, you don’t want to miss it 🙂
2. One thing that signifies Fall to me is warm apple cider, spiced lattes and hot chocolate! I love the idea of setting up a coffee/cider/hot chocolate bar for the entire family to enjoy! It eliminates “stuff” from the kitchen, but better yet, it looks darling! It would be fun to have some friends over and do a themed bar with different mix ins!
3. Really loving this polka dot fabric!! Isn’t it the cutest? Add some flare to your home decor by adding a fun print like this to an old (or even new!) chair! With a pattern like this, it’s easy to change pillows for each season and it easily pairs with brights and neutrals!
4. Silhouette pumpkins ♥  ♥  As if they didn’t already have me because they’re white, they totally got me with those darling little faces 😉 These would make the perfect display or centerpiece for Thanksgiving! I love the technique that Jen from City Farmhouse uses for this project! The possibilities are truly endless!

Hey, hey it’s Friday! How excited are you? I’m stoked!
It was nice to have an extra day with Labor Day this week 🙂
I’m in full swing of everything Fall! Are you too?
More than likely in the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing my favorite Fall pins!
Follow along with me as I share my favorite from this week!

1. Creating an inviting entry is something I try to focus on everytime I decorate! I love this over-decorated Fall front porch! Typically, I wouldn’t put this much “stuff” on my porch at once, but I think it really works together nicely! We always seem to buy an abundance of pumpkins and I always pick up one too many mums (wink!)
2. I love seeing all the creative ways to decorate pumpkins rather than the traditional carving. I’ve never been good at carving, so I would normally just leave them plain. I love the use of vintage keys spelling out the word F-A-L-L here! Very creative and rustic, I love it ♥  ♥
3. Painted pumpkins, you’ve stole my heart ♥ I painted pumpkins for the first time last year and loved how they turned out! Anytime we had guests over, they raved over them! They were appealing and out of the norm. I went with bright colors last year, but I’m loving these metallic tones! I can’t wait to get working on this years pumpkins to share with you all!
4. Isn’t this magical? A complete picturesque picnic setting! How fun would it be to plan a spontaneous lunch date with the kids and pitch a spot in the woods or a romantic dinner with your hubby?! I love the thoughts of this! It would also make the perfect scene for a engagement or family photo shoot, sigh!

All of this weeks pins were sourced from my Pinterest page with unknown original sources.

Pretty, Painted Pumpkins

September 21, 2012 by Fotini Filed Under: arts and crafts, craft paint, diy, fall, home decor, painted pumpkins, pumpkins, stencil 50 Comments

I’ve been so excited to do this project! We had just went to the pumpkin patch in the early part of the week and I could just barely wait to paint those pumpkins 🙂 I headed to Hobby Lobby to pick up my supplies for this project. I opted for a pearl finish, metallic silver, antique gold and midnight blue craft paints. These were 30% off at the time (making them about $1.15 each). I also grabbed a cute stencil in the same isle for $2.99 ( I will use this for lots of other projects!) I browsed the ribbon for something that really stood out to me. I didn’t find the exact color I was looking for, so I went with this navy blue and white design that will go well with my paint colors ( originally $3.99 but I used a 40% off coupon, making it $2.42).
Once I was back home, I grabbed a painters tarp and my two large pumpkins and headed to the deck. I sprayed these with a cheap, white spray paint I bought at Walmart previously for $.97. While those were drying, I grabbed a few paper towels and small tupperware lids and got to work. I like to use the tupperware lids for my paint because they wipe clean really easy and you can re-use them over and over! I started my first pumpkin with the chevron design. I used about a 1.5 inch piece of painters tape cut in half to arrange the design. The first color I used was the metallic silver, and I brushed it over the entire top of the pumpkin including the stem. I did the top of my small pumpkin with the silver as well. Once the silver was (somewhat) dry, I painted the bottoms with midnight blue. I grabbed one of my large pumpkins I sprayed white and tapped a stencil “R” in the middle. Let me tell ya, stenciling a pumpkin was a little bit of a booger! Any who, I also used the midnight blue for this; carefully remove your stencil. Feeling a bit discouraged from the previous stencil, I gave it another go and taped the designed stencil next to the “R”. For this, I used the antique gold paint and carefully filled in the entire stencil, removed and did it to the other side.
I was so anxious to see how my chevron pumpkin turned out, I started to remove the tape… It started to pull the paint off 🙁 Oh well, it’s not the end of the world and I decided to just go over it will the antique gold to blend it all together. I also painted one other medium pumpkin I had with the gold, as well as the middle of my small pumpkin. Next, I went back to my large initialed pumpkin and began to use the pearl finish as a glaze over the entire pumpkin. It gave it a beautiful glow!
I finished the pumpkins off by embellishing them with the ribbon I picked out! This project took me some time, but I’m happy with how there turned out! They aren’t perfect, but I didn’t expect them to be 🙂

{ Painted Pumpkins }

Feeling a little bit giddy about my next project… Painted pumpkins, eek! I really love pumpkins and this year I have the desire to go outside-the-box and personalize them! Painting pumpkins can be a fabulous way to let your creativity shine. No matter your style: spooky, retro, eclectic, or glam, use your favorite colors and designs and get to creating!

I can’t wait to share my project with you this weekend! In the mean time here (below) is where I’m getting some of my inspiration from 🙂

{ Fall Wreath #2 }

September 14, 2012 by Fotini Filed Under: burlap, burlap bow, crafts, diy, diy fall wreath, dollar tree, fall wreath, michaels, pumpkins 30 Comments

I made my first fall wreath a couple weeks back ( you can view it here ) and I seriously couldn’t wait to make another one! For the price, you really can’t beat playing around and using your creativity! This project cost me a whopping $5! I love it!!

Here’s what you’re going to need:

  • 12 inch grapevine wreath
  • Glue gun, glue
  • Flowers, or Fall leaves
  • Pumpkins ( or preferred decor )
  • Burlap for bow ( this wasn’t included in my cost because I already had it )

Again, my grapevine wreath and all flowers I used were from DollarTree! The orange pumpkins came from Michaels, $1 for a 2 pack. For your flowers, simply pull the flower heads off of the stems and set aside. It’s always a good idea to play around with what you want your design to look like before you begin gluing things into place. Once you’re satisfied, begin gluing your flower pieces in the middle of the wreath and work outward. This will ensure your work from being crooked! Remember, you can add as little, or as much as you want! Use your creativity and have fun 🙂 Once everything is glued into place, it’s time to make your bow! I used ivory burlap for mine. Start by cutting three 2 inch sections of burlap ( or fabric ). With the first piece, tie a knot in the center, keeping the middle loose. Fold the ends into the middle and glue into place. Grab your additional two pieces of burlap and glue the ends together ( forming a loop ). Grab the center of the burlap, fold and glue into place; do this for the remaining piece as well. Make an “X” with those two pieces and put the bow ( the first piece you made ) in the center and glue.

There you have it! It’s honestly, that, simple! You can create wreathes like it’s going out of style now 😉 Give them as gifts, etc!
