{ Fab Pins of the Week }

December 13, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: Christmas, Christmas decor, fab pins of the week, fresh greenery, greenery, natural Christmas

Happy, happy Friday!! I am THRILLED it’s the weekend! Tomorrow early morning, my hubby and I are headed to Chicago for the weekend! It’s our first time ever, and I am so stinkin’ excited πŸ™‚
This week’s fab pins are inspired by my love of greenery during the Winter season β™₯  β™₯

1. I love this simple, natural tablescape! Whites, fresh greenery and candle light, does it get much better? The only thing I might add would be a little sparkle, whether it be with mercury glass votives or glittery pinecones! I love the little deer figurines to add depth to the scene!
2. Incorporate natural elements into your gift wrapping! I love the idea of putting a piece of greenery with ribbon and kraft paper or even embellishing with a glittery pinecone! This is an idea that I might bring to life in our gift wrapping next year! We will just have to wait and see πŸ˜‰
3. The decor for this front porch is so simple, but so gorgeous! Gorgeous swayed garland surrounding the door creates such an inviting entry! I love the live wreath with ribbon and jingle bells! Absolute classic beauty we have here!
4. I love the idea of “framing” a specific picture or piece of  art with live greenery! Add simple embellishments for more flare, by adding dangling ornaments or little bows. This is such a simple, yet outstanding idea!

{ Christmas Home Tour 2013 }

December 12, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: burlap, Christmas, Christmas home tour, diy, home tour, neutral Christmas decor 6 Comments

I love, and look forward to decorating my home each year for Christmas! Typically I decorate with the traditional red and white, but this year I wanted to go more natural and stick with neutral tones and natural elements. I started shopping the after Christmas sales last year and snagged some amazing deals on new ornaments and swag for my tree!

I just love my tree and mantle this year! The neutral tones just look amazing together! Of course I have lots of burlap involved! I just used a couple yards of burlap as my tree skirt, nothing special, but I love how it looks! I made our stockings, which I will be sharing here soon and I love them too!! I used kraft paper again this year to wrap my packages and paired them with a beautiful platinum ribbon and chalkboard tags, as well as some amazing glitter tape I bought from Target Dollar Spot, I’m obsessed with it!!! I also got some beautiful, glitter embellished wrapping paper on sale last year that fits perfectly with my design!

Please follow along with me as I give you a tour of my home πŸ™‚  I hope you enjoy!

Happy Friday πŸ™‚ I’m so thrilled December is here, we have an exciting month planned!

This week’s fab pins are Christmas inspired of course!

1. This outdoor space just screams rustic warmth to meet! The gorgeous glow of the white snow, mixed with the warmth of the plaid blankets, wool pillows and candle-lit lanterns totally have me sold! This would be the perfect spot to take a break from watching the kids play in the snow! Followed by going inside and enjoying a nice cup of hot cocoa!
2. I’m in love with mini Christmas trees! I would have them in every room if my husband let me, lol! Again, I love the warm feeling of this porch! Pillows and comfy blankets always make everything a little better πŸ™‚ Oh, and candle light! I really just can’t get enough of candles this Season! They just create that magical glow!
3. Lantern love!! I using lanterns throughout the year, but they are especially magical during the Winter! I actually just scored an adorable new one from Jo Ann’s 70% off!
4. Oh my, that furry blanket looks so comfy!! Once again, the perfect combination of warm pillows, blankets, greenery and candles. How could you go wrong?!

{ Pork and Bean Soup }

December 2, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: comfort food, crockpot recipe, Fall recipe, pork and beans, soup recipe 3 Comments

My husband and I were both craving a pork and bean soup, but didn’t have a recipe. I kept browsing online but didn’t come up with the recipe I was looking for. I already had all the ingredients, so decided to go out on a whim and whip something up anyway! And I’m glad I did, it was super delish!

Here’s what you’re going to need:

  • 1 can Great Northern white beans
  • White kidney beans
  • 1 can green beans
  • 1 3-5 lb. ham, bone out
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 can condensed cream of chicken
  • Chicken broth
  • Flour (optional)
I bought a nearly 5 pound ham at Aldi for just a few bucks, it was boneless and sliced! Place ham in the crock pot and add each can of beans including juices, don’t drain! Chop up a small onion and add along with 2 tablespoons of minced garlic. Next add some chicken broth, I didn’t measure, I just poured until everything was covered. Cook on high for 3-4 hours, add the can of cream of chicken and a little flour for a thicker consistency, if desired. Cook on low for another 1-2 hours. Serve with corn bread. I like to add a slice of corn bread to thicken mine up!
The combination may sound a little weird and it might not be the prettiest soup to look at, but it’s full of taste and so warming after a cold day! My family loved it and I will certainly be making it again, and again πŸ˜‰

Sharing this recipe on these lovely blogs!
