Guys, I cannot believe I’m actually writing this post!! I cannot tell you how stinkin’ excited I was to get rid of the ugly, old backsplash that was in my kitchen. I am so excited to say: it’s finally gone! Bye-bye ugly, dated bathroom tile; and hello new subway tile backsplash! Today I’m sharing the process of us ripping out the old tile and installing the new!
The caulking behind our sink had been peeled away for a few months, so I was afraid we would have some water damage and possibly mildew. Kenny ripped the tiled off and found black mold, eek! It wasn’t nearly as bad as it could of been, but it did extend from behind our sink about 2.5 feet. Once the tile was completely removed, he cut out the molded drywall. We were lucky it didn’t extend down behind the sink and that there was plastic covering the studs. That saved us big time!!
