We just recently celebrated Memorial Day, and I got to thinking that I would share how our family celebrates with you all! If you were here earlier in the past week, you will see our Memorial Day picnic the kids and I had at home! Typically, we celebrate Memorial Day with a family barbecue. This year we did things a little differently… If you read my Memorial Day post you will see why.
My honey and I headed out on a spontaneous camping trip! And when I say spontaneous, I mean it! We were busy working and preparing items for a barn show we are in this week, and after a long day of non-stop working, we finished! He looked at me and said “let’s go camping!”. I’m not going to lie, my initial thought was “you’re crazy”, but the words “yes, let’s do it!” popped out instead! It was 5:20 pm. on a Friday, let alone, Memorial Day weekend.. We weren’t going to find a spot, I thought. But, we did! Have you ever packed on the whim? Boy, that makes for an interesting time! We had an hour and twenty minute drive and the office closed at 8 pm. Better get packing, quick!!
Long story short, we had an incredible weekend, tucked in a remote part of Ohio called Lake Hope! My cell phone service was nonexistent and it was really what I needed to disconnect from reality for a few days! We rented a boat, enjoyed fishing, the lake and God’s fascinating creation around us! Not to mention, it’s times like these, you appreciate having a house on wheels, aka camper!
I stopped by Wayfair and gathered some of our Memorial Day and regular- camping essentials! Must-have items that we can’t live without while camping, not to mention, they make the holiday get-together’s more fun too!
