Burlap & Lace

November 4, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: banner, burlap, burlap banner, diy, DIY banner 17 Comments

I was in love with the vintage chic rag banner I made for my daughters birthday, so I wanted to make something similar we could enjoy more often! What better than burlap, lace and linen? The perfect neutral, perfect for anytime combo!

Start by cutting all your fabric into strips. I don’t measure, I just eye it! I used jute as the base of the banner, jute is strong and durable. Play around with a design, create a loop with the fabric and pull through. Continue this until completed. And there you have it! An affordable, beautiful banner 🙂

{ Fab Pins of the Week }

November 1, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: fab pins of the week, fall, Fall favorites, Fall must haves, hot chocolate recipe, Pinterest 3 Comments

Oh, happy day, it’s Friday!! I CANNOT believe it’s November!
I am, however, super excited it’s the weekend! How about you?
This weeks inspired pins were a few of my favorite Fall must-haves!
So, without further a-do, let’s get to it…

3.source   4.source
1. One of my favorite things about Fall is the comfy clothes, shoes and accessories that come along with it! An absolute must-have for me, is versatile sweaters and wraps. I love the functionality of wraps! It’s literally like wearing a blanket, I love it â™¥  ♥ The neutral wrap pictured is the perfect color because it would go with just about anything! Wear it with a cotton long-sleeved shirt, leggings and tall boots for running errands in the day, or wear it with a sleek button up, boyfriend jeans and booties for a dinner date!
2. Oh, candles, how I love you so! I adore candles all year round, but they are perfectly romantic in the Fall and Winter months! Their illuminating glow creates a comfort and warming feel! I love candles like cinnamon, pumpkin spice and one of my favorites this year is Pumpkin Pecan Waffles from BBW, it’s the bomb!!
3. Obvious Fall favorite, is definitely a super delish drink to warm your bones on those bitter cold days! Starbucks is certainly one of my favorites, but every once in a while you will run into a fabulous recipe to make at home, just like this one! Salted caramel hot chocolate, oh my yum! We’re going to be giving this one a try very soon at our house (wink!).
4. How can you have enough blankets to cuddle up with in Fall and Winter? The answer is, you can’t! I love cuddling with the kids on the couch with a comfy, warm blanket or relaxing after a long day catching up on some of my shows! I also love to keep decorative throws around to add character to a room! It really gives it that warm feeling 🙂

Kids Halloween Party, The Games!

October 26, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: ad, Cottonelle toilet paper, diy, Halloween party games, kid Halloween games, PMedia, Pollinate Media Group, sponsored post

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Groupâ„¢ and Cottonelle, but all opinions are my own. http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.

Trick-or-treat comes and goes so quickly, it seems like the little ones don’t actually get to enjoy it much! This year I had the idea of hosting a kids costume party for my little ones, friends and family to enjoy! With that in mind I headed to none other than, Target to get some goodies! While I was there I picked up the new Cottonelle Triple Roll toilet paper to use for decor and for games. Be sure to grab yours too, and take advantage of the promotional offer “Buy Cottonelle Triple Rock 12 pack or larger and receive a FREE box of Kleenex”, while supplies last! Coupon here!

And that brings me today’s post, the games! Of course, this is the best part of the party for the kids!! We had a variety of ages, from 1-12, so I wanted the games to be functional and fun for everyone! The games were played inside the house since it’s like Winter outside (ah!), luckily I planned for that!

First we played pumpkin bowling! I stacked six rolls of the Cottonelle Triple Roll up pyramid style. I glued cute little googly eyes on them so they appeared as “ghosts”! We noticed unlike the picture below, separating the rolls so there is more of a gap in between them is easier for the kids to knock down. I used a mini pumpkin and removed the stem.

Next we played Halloween bingo and did the piñata! Oh, how fun that was!

Next up was the Mummy wrap! It was so much fun to watch the little ones work together in creating their own Mummy in 60 seconds! For this game we used two rolls per team. This was by far their favorite game of the night! After each team finished their Mummy, we saw who could get out of it the quickest! Then it seems we had a slight toilet paper fight, so fun! I will share all the printables I created for each game in another post next week, so check back!

The last game we played was pin the tail on the black cat! I used a black poster board, drew and cut out the shape of the cat. I glued on googly eyes and used different lengths of fish line for the whiskers! I wrapped the cat up like a Mummy too, and it was just adorable!

I also used a few pieces of toilet paper to embellish the sides of my picture frames to “Mummy-fy” them a bit! Who knew with a little bit of creativity and a pack of toilet paper, you could create fun for an entire party?

I will be sharing the full party and details next week! I hope to see ya back then 😉

Happy Friday!!
Fall is the perfect time of the year to incorporate beautiful food displays!
Whether it be for get togethers, birthdays or Thanksgiving, I hope to give you a few ideas from these pins that have given me some inspiration this week!

1. I absolutely love the idea of having a caramel apple bar! Lucy from Craftberry Bush shared her adorable setup with a few different yummy mixtures! This is a simple way to let each guest create their own caramel apple without all the fuss! Darling, isn’t it!
2. What a gorgeous way to display food for your Fall party! I love the way galvanized metal looks with these simple finger foods. I love the simplicity of choosing different types of cheeses, pastries and fresh berries for such a statement!
3. I love apples all year around, but they are the perfect Fall fruit! They make gorgeous centerpieces with the perfect pops of color. I love how simple this display is using a wicker basket, fresh leaves and walnuts.
4. Imagine this centerpiece for Thanksgiving.. Gorgeous!! I love the mixture of fresh red and white grapes, gourds, wheat and candles! Such a fantastic combination, wouldn’t you agree?

My New Kitchen Light

October 21, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, home decor, kitchen light, lighting, mercury glass 33 Comments

I have a slight obsession with mercury glass and I knew I wanted to incorporate it into my new kitchen island lighting. I started browsing online, only to find super expensive options.

Similar here here ($99 each) and here (over $218 each)!! I was determined to make this work, so I headed to none other than, Homegoods! I was ecstatic when I found these pretty mercury glass candle holders and snatched up three of them. The plan was for my hubby to use a glass cutter to create a hole for it to fit on the new lighting. Well, you won’t believe what happend next… We started unscrewing the bottom of the candle holder to find a hole already there, and it fit the light fixture like a glove! Score!! Like major score. I may, or may not, have been doing the happy dance in my kitchen! Within minutes I had a gorgeous new mercury glass light fixture!!

The best part about it was the cost! Each candle holder was $9.99 and the trio mount was on sale at Lowes for about $47, which brings the total cost to $76.97!

I think it’s the perfect addition to our kitchen space and I couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out!

{ Fab Pins of the Week }

October 18, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, fab pins of the week, Halloween, Halloween recipes, Pinterest, snacks, treats Leave a Comment

Hi there and welcome 🙂
It’s a pleasure to have you here, starting your weekend out with me!
I’m still in full swing of prepping for the kids Halloween costume party, so this week’s pins are, again, Halloween inspired!
Do you decorate/celebrate Halloween?
Do you allow your kids to go trick or treating?
We do not celebrate Halloween in our home, but we do allow our children to trick or treat. This year, however, I’m excited to host a party for the kids to have fun without all the freaky, gooey gore that typically comes with Halloween! Be sure to check back for the party reveal next week!
So let’s get to it…

3. source   4.source

1. Aren’t these Monster Apple Bites from We Do Fun Here absolutely adorable? I’m totally making these for our Halloween party, the kids will love them! Not to mention, they’re made with healthy ingredients! Head over and check out the full recipe 🙂
2. Halloween party perfection, wow! I love every detail is beautifully placed! Of course I love the burlap tablecloth!
3. These adorable treat bags are the perfect touch for your little ones to keep their treats in! And they are just so stinkin’ cute! I love using paper bags from the dollar store, the possibilities are truly endless and you can’t get anything more budget friendly!
4. Holy moly these are cute! I’m not the best at baking, so more than likely mine would not turn out looking like this, but I might just have to give it a try! I love the bright green color from the non-traditional black and orange Halloween decor!
