How to hide office clutter

August 17, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: diy, home decor, Uncategorized 6 Comments

I’m kind of on a mission this year to completely de-clutter my home! I am SO tired of having stuff everywhere! One thing I do love about our home, is that I have a space to call my home office! Since I’ve been working on creating my own office space, I’m also focused on keeping clutter to a minimum! Today I’m sharing with you how I hide some of that clutter!

Lets face it, being a crafter I have oodles and oodles of things. These things are what I use to create and make a living. But, at the same time, I don’t want them out and visible in a space I’m creating to by my own.

Rewind to mid June when my husband and I were racking our brains for “the perfect” piece of furniture for the office. Something that had ample storage space, was pretty and also fit the style of the existing decor. It was nearly an impossible task, and I began to get discouraged (unless of course, I wanted to spend a big chunk of change on what I really wanted!). I recently shared the my husband and I made. It was a large piece and took up a good amount of space in the office, which didn’t leave much room for another piece to come in. One afternoon I was sitting in the office, browsing the internet when it hit me! My was the piece I was looking for all along…

My desk offers nearly 7 feet in length of space, which is a great amount of room for storage! I wanted to create curtains that went around the table to hide baskets storing goodies and other things underneath. So, that’s just what I did… and here’s how!

I headed to Lowe’s and bought a large , one , and two 8-11″ tension rods. Once home, I measured the length and depth the curtains needed to be on my . I wanted the curtains to puddle to the floor a bit, so I added about a quarter of an inch. I laid the drop cloth out on the floor, measured and put push pins to mark where I would sew, leaving about an inch and a half that I would loop over. This was the first project I had sewn in awhile, so I was a little nervous. I picked up right where I left off; it felt good! It’s so rewarding to sew your own projects, I love it! And this was such a simple project, I was literally sewing in a straight line. I have three separate pieces for my table; the front and two sides. I used the long tension rod, fed the curtain through it and pushed it under the table into place; followed the same procedure for the sides. And that was it! Now I have a good 7 feet of hidden space for anything I desire! How awesome is that 😉

Thank you sooo much for this! I have been in a predicament about what to do to hide my cords under my TV. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for to bring my idea to fruition. Yay!

I don’t think the title of your article matches the content lol. Just kidding, mainly because I had some doubts after reading the article.
