New year, new goals
Happy 2018!! I may be a little late to wishing you a happy new year, but better late then never, right? If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen the picture I shared with a little remark that I would be putting together a post like this. A post to pin-point my goals and resolution for positive change this year! As I mentioned in that post, so many of us make resolutions, only to break them just days later. I’ve been there and done that, year after year. NOT this year. If you’re feeling the same way, let’s do this together! In today’s post, I’ll be sharing with you some of my favorite tools to gather my thoughts, keep track of my schedule, meals and successes!
First things first, you MUST have a planner of some sort. I always find the cutest, affordable planners at Marshalls or Target. I keep one for my home office and one for my purse, and I also use the calendar on my phone. This way, I’m always aware of things I may have forgot to jot down or add to my phone, etc. On top of those, I printed out two additional calendars… obsessive? Prepared. I want to set myself up for success instead of failure. I’ve found that I do my best when I have things written down and holding me accountable. I know, it sounds silly, but it’s what works for me!
This won’t be my first time doing a full month of meal planning, but this will be my first month of writing it down and crossing the successful days month-by-month. The first calendar I printed off, was from Short Stop Designs. She offers super trendy 2018 monthly calendars. I love these because I can easily write each dinner in the space provided. I will also take the time to go through and make a store list of ingredients needed and recipes for reference.
The next tracker I printed out was a 30-day tracker from Lemon thistle. This is simply to keep me on track visually on a daily basis. Again, silly I know, but do what works for you. I can simply put an X or check mark each day I’ve accomplished my goals. What are my goals you ask? My main goal is to lose the nearly 30 pounds I put on in the last two years. It sounds awful and makes me cringe just saying it. THAT is my first goal. I want to get back to the stage of feeling good and being healthy. So, that means cutting out sugar and carbs from my diet.
For quite awhile, I’ve dwindled around with the Whole 30/ Paleo diet. I will be honest when I say that both of those scare me to death. So, instead of jumping in head first, I’m going to make small changes until I’m completely comfortable to make the complete lifestyle change. Speaking personally, I know that I take in way too much sugar on a regular basis. Between my frequent Starbucks trips, little bites of candy sitting around, etc. It adds up. Instead of doing multiple fad diets, I want to learn to completely make a lifestyle change and eat healthy again, all the time!
I hope that you will continue to follow along with me as I share my journey into positive change with you all! I would absolutely love to hear your tips, tricks and what works for you!! Stay tuned! See you again next time 🙂
