{ Pork and Bean Soup }

December 2, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: comfort food, crockpot recipe, Fall recipe, pork and beans, soup recipe 3 Comments

My husband and I were both craving a pork and bean soup, but didn’t have a recipe. I kept browsing online but didn’t come up with the recipe I was looking for. I already had all the ingredients, so decided to go out on a whim and whip something up anyway! And I’m glad I did, it was super delish!

Here’s what you’re going to need:

  • 1 can Great Northern white beans
  • White kidney beans
  • 1 can green beans
  • 1 3-5 lb. ham, bone out
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 can condensed cream of chicken
  • Chicken broth
  • Flour (optional)
I bought a nearly 5 pound ham at Aldi for just a few bucks, it was boneless and sliced! Place ham in the crock pot and add each can of beans including juices, don’t drain! Chop up a small onion and add along with 2 tablespoons of minced garlic. Next add some chicken broth, I didn’t measure, I just poured until everything was covered. Cook on high for 3-4 hours, add the can of cream of chicken and a little flour for a thicker consistency, if desired. Cook on low for another 1-2 hours. Serve with corn bread. I like to add a slice of corn bread to thicken mine up!
The combination may sound a little weird and it might not be the prettiest soup to look at, but it’s full of taste and so warming after a cold day! My family loved it and I will certainly be making it again, and again 😉

Sharing this recipe on these lovely blogs!
