Hello lovely! How are you today? I’m hoping that as you read this post, it finds you well and looking forward to a beautiful day! Things have been busy around here, to say the least! Instead of complaining about it, I tend to find the best in every situation! I’m very blessed for being as busy as I am and also continue to enjoy every minute of the chaos!
With that said, I’ve been slightly behind on decorating the house for Halloween. As mentioned in the past, I don’t go overboard, or the spooky route when it comes to decorating for Halloween. I try to keep it subtle and tasteful! Today I have the pleasure of sharing ‘pumpkins on the porch‘ with you! It’s my first take at a soft front porch decorated for early October!
Lola says ‘Hi’! She’s always the first at the door to greet any and every guest that stops by! Isn’t she just the sweetest? She is such a little joy! Just as cute, are the vintage galvanized jack-o’-lanterns that I came across! I was lucky enough to find a wonderful connection for a slew of vintage and antique goodies in Northern Ohio called The Cluttered Coop! It’s one of my very favorite places to scour for hours, and if you’re an Ohio local, you should definitely check it out! Please make sure to tell Brock and his wife that I sent you 😉
So, for this design, I opted to utilize orange, the go-to color for October. However, that is a color I use very, very little of, ever! It was a nice change and made me step outside my comfort zone a little! I pulled out that old wreath I was given years ago and haven’t used since. I must admit, I love how it sits against my black door! And, I am just swooning over these gorgeous, full mums! They truly are swoon worthy! They add the perfect pop of color to my design!
Once again, I have incorporated my beloved ‘pumpkin’ pallet sign into another front porch design! It’s simple, but so, so fitting for this time of the year! It would be a pleasure for you to check out my Etsy shop where you can purchase one of your own! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have read my post about purchasing too many pumpkins this year… Who am I kidding? There is no such thing!! I am probably overly obsessed with all of them that I’ve brought home! I just love the character that each one displays. By adding a few more Fall favorites, like corn stalks and fresh kale, my front porch begins to take life!
Did you know that more vandalism insurance claims are filed from Halloween, more than any other day of the year? SimpliSafe, which is a company that makes wireless home security systems, recently shared fact and I found it very interesting! They’re trying to get the word out about keeping your home safe this Halloween with their #ProtectThePumpkins campaign, and we would love for you to share what steps you take to keep your home safe this time of year!
Here’s a few of my tips:
- Always keep your front door locked and your garage closed, when you’re not within close range.
- Do not add known valuables to your outdoor decor and/or displays.
- Remind kids to practice safe security practices (refer to #1).
- Keep your blinds pulled shut when you’re away from home.
- Keep the perimeter of your home well lit at night.
