I feel like my mantel seems so bare after the Holidays not having a banner! This Valentine’s Day, I wanted something subtle! I opted for a simple book page banner with red, sparkly hearts.
A banner like this is super simple to make and the possibilities are quite endless! The base of my banner is jute, which you can buy in spools at the craft store. Cut jute to your desired length and tape the ends to your working space so it doesn’t move while assembling the remaining parts. Now, simply rip pages out of a book and cut each to desired size. Next, I used a heart-shaped stencil I made using my Silhouette. Lightly traced the heart onto each page, took a fine tip paint brush and brushed Elmer’s craft glue on. My suggestion is to do one at a time instead of rushing yourself. I always work on a paper plate or something easily bendable when working with glitter so I can reuse as much as possible! Sprinkle a generous amount of glitter onto the craft glue and let dry. Continue for the remaining amount of pages. Attach the pages to the jute with a heated glue gun, spacing evenly as you go!
And voila, an adorable Valentine’s Day banner with little effort!
