I was looking for an embellishment to add to my quote canvas to make it pop! I headed to Hobby Lobby and lucked out when I found a pre-cut piece of fabric on sale in the fabric section. This fabric wasΒ originallyΒ $32.99 per yard, and I got 1/8 of a yard for under $4!! Seriously couldn’t wait to get home and create the flower I had in mind!
Here’s what you’re going to need for this project:
- Scissors
- glue gun, glue
- scrap cardboard
- fabric, or felt
Start by cutting two inch circles in your fabric. Cut about 12 of them. Cut a slit to the middle of each of your circles. Place a dot of hot glue on the bottom of your slit and press the top piece down. This will create a “petal” look for your flower. Continue to do this with all remaining circles. Grab your scrap piece of cardboard and cut a circle about three inches in diameter. Begin to arrange your petals on the cardboard, slightly overlapping them as you go, glue each piece down. When arranging your petals, leave a space in the middle. This is where you can add a vintage brooch, decorative button, additional fabric, etc. For mine, I cut two (somewhat) flower shapes with extra fabric, put a dab of hot glue in the center and pinched the bottom to create the look I was going for. Glue these pieces to the center (where your empty space is). That’s it!
Add your pretty flower to any piece for character! The cardboard backing allows this piece to be sturdy, making it easy to put, just about, anywhere!
Sharing this project on these wonderful sites!
