1. Oh, I love the pretty pastels and fresh arrangement of flowers, and not to mention the adorable macaroons! I live for having fresh flowers in my house throughout Spring and Summer! And I’ve been pinning lots of macaroons because I want to feature these at my daughters birthday in May! How cute are they?!
2. I absolutely LOVE this Pottery Barn Knock-off Easter Flag from SunFlowerHugs. Head over and see how she easily takes an expensive concept and creates a super affordable knock-off! She’s my kind of girl ๐Ÿ˜‰  I will definitely be making one of these to don my front porch!
3. Who doesn’t love a pretty cupcake? Dressing up your baking for the Holidays is so much fun and the kids will love it! If you’re needing a few ideas, The Cupcake Blog has got plenty for you to choose from!!
4. Oh my goodness, how stinkin’ adorable is this Burlap Bunny Table Runner from Eclectically Vintage!! What the perfect addition to any Easter decor! This would fit in so perfectly with my decor, I may just have to make one this week!! Although, I don’t know how long those little tails would last with a busy two year-old running around.. Anywho, go check it out you will love her blog!

{ Nothing “Sweeter” }

February 11, 2013 by Fotini Filed Under: cupcakes, ombre, ombre icing, Valentines, Valentines day 23 Comments

What’s “sweeter” than making something sweet for the ones you love?! How about some healthier, Valentines cupcakes! By healthier, I mean omitting the oil used for 1/3 cup of apple sauce. Prepare your cake according to the box for the remaining. Another fun tip, pour the cake batter into a measuring cup to perfectly dispense into your cupcake liners! Easy- peasy.. I did this with the baby on my hip ๐Ÿ˜‰ The cupcakes came out perfect! Also, came up with using a butter knife to remove the hot- out-of- the oven cupcakes without burning your fingertips! I know, I’m full of tips today, ha!

For the icing, I attempted an ombre frosting, as well as, chocolate. Here’s what I did for the ombre: I put vanilla frosting and vanilla frosting I added food color to, to make it a pink-ish color, to a snack-size ziploc and lightly “squished” together. Cut a very small hole in the corner of the bag, this is now your piping bag! The icing isn’t completely mixed, this causes it to create the ombre effect! The first cupcake turned out perfect!! With a cranky baby on my hip, it was a little hard for me to continue with the others, so I simply mixed the icing creating a pink. I sprinkled on some heart candies and voila, something sweet for the kids and hubby ๐Ÿ™‚
