Kitchen organization

July 20, 2015 by Fotini Filed Under: diy 4 Comments

Hi! Thanks for stopping by today! Today I’m sharing with you just a tiny peek into my struggle with kitchen organization. Sounds crazy right? It’s the room we spend the most time it (it seems), yet it’s the most cluttered. Luckily, it’s all behind the cabinet doors. But, when someone asks to borrow something from one of those messy cabinets, I’m making ninja moves so they don’t SEE inside. Okay, not really, but I do feel embarrassed and feel overwhelmed when I’m looking for something myself. It’s the truth. How did it get this way?

organization

Well, all those overwhelming feelings end here! One day, I had finally had it! I was determined to organize and fix this problem once and for all. I headed to Marshalls to grab some baskets for miscellaneous items that so easily cluttered up the space. I opted for 3 wicker baskets (), small enough to fit inside my cabinets but large enough to house the knick knacks. So, are you ready to see the hideous “before” picture?

organization

Good grief!! Looking back at it, I honestly can’t believe I let it get this bad! But, I’m here to share with you how I organized everything without overwhelming myself in all the stuff. Allow yourself a few hours time, that’s what it took me. I emptied the cabinet out completely and began organizing things according to use. Ie: paint, ribbon, paper, bills, etc. Once everything was categorized, I began to skim out the stuff that wasn’t necessary to keep, or that didn’t belong there in the first place. I will say, I had a TON of stuff that went up to my office. Before I had my home office, this is where I housed a lot of my craft supplies, so that freed up a good bit of space. While I was at it, I also organized all my other cabinets (plates, mugs, cups,etc.). I reserved this specific cabinet for more seasonal or hosting items.

organization

I really love the looks of it now! Clean and organized, just what I was going for!! And the baskets are the perfect touch, to keep any little items or things I want hidden, while keeping it stylish! So, what do you think? Is this a project you’re ready to take on at your house? Can you believe the difference in the before and after? With a little determination and time you will have your clutter cleaned up in no time!

Sharing this on these fantastic blogs!
